I hope he recovers his health quickly and fully. There's a lot of issues at the Valley, but this is simply a man in poor health, who did his best for the club, and a speedy return to health would be wonderfull.
Interesting comments from ex Board member David Smith about Richard Murray. He claims that Muzza has a huge ego and is still obsessed at people seeing Charlton as "his club" He also states that Meire listens closely to Murrays deluded advice, and that Muzza was heavily involved in the appointments of both Fraeye and then Slade. In Smith's own damning words, Muzza is determined to stay involved at Charlton regardless because he loves the attention and gets a buzz out of dealing with football agents and players. The silly, deluded fool Dave Smith's view is worthy of respect as I believe he still sits in the Directors Box to this day, despite being virulently anti Regime. He would also have observed Meire and Murray at close quarters. In his words, why do you think Murray chooses to sit next to Meire at every game This comment reinforces the view that Murray still gets off very lightly IMO
David Smith: "Murray sold himself to Duchatelet and Meire from the first day as someone who could help them in the UK because of his vast knowledge of football"
and look how well Richard Murray has run #cafc since Curbs left, the only time it has been successful was when Slater was running the Club. Murray is a complete knob.
It makes my p1ss boil when I read comments like this about Murray. He is the golden thread that runs right through the club's slow death since 2006
I saw the thread title and got all excited until I realised it was an old thread. God knows why but there's still enough lingering respect for the man to hope that he would redeem himself by resigning. What a disaster he has been, and still is. You have to suspect that he was instrumental in fobbing off the Varney approach, and by all reports he rarely leaves the CEO's side on matchdays. If he did resign it would be a real blow to the regime, but it seems there's fat chance.
Latest from David Smith: "Murray recruited Dowie, Reed, Pardew and Parkinson. Powell was down to Varney. The only time we had some success was when Murray was not involved surprise surprise"
Before the Forest game on New Years Day last season I called Murray over to the front of the Directors Box. "You do realise that this lot of have destroyed all the good work you have done over the years?" Murray replied "Yes I know, but unless you have 50 million pounds"
I voted for Elf ,but am now having 2nd thoughts. He was at Wealdstone yesterday and not the Valley. Who ever heard of a moderator of a Charlton forum who doesn't go to the games ?
