Logged in to see a new spoof thread title (I thought), but to find out it was actually true made my day, week, month!!!

A game of brinkmanship has finally ended in Harry resigning, well played Tony.

Harry is old school who see's buying players as a way forward. Football today is about youth and energy and developing it. FFP also seems to kick in and having an effect on the transfer window. All pointing to the demise of Harry.

We'll always have Wembley, sincerly thank you for that day Harry.

I would take Sherwood in a heartbeat. A natural leader who captained every side he played for. Taken all his badges, schooled in the modern football world and definitely seemed to know what he was doing at Spurs. He will only come if Les Ferdinand thinks he's right for QPR, and if that is the case then it's good enough for me.

I wonder if he who shall not be named will now be fit and raring to go?

Also, Diakite is back. I've always quite liked him.

I've always had a soft spot for Redknapp but if we're really to believe that he came to such a radical conclusion with QPR in the relegation places and just a few hours after the transfer window closed then his name would go down as one of the great managerial traitors. I'm assuming this was actually all by agreement between him and the club to save face all round but it's strange why he would allow himself to leave in 'official' circumstances such as these. His rep is well and truly in the toilet if that's to be believed.

None of us know the truth behind the alleged backstabbing etc but for me, the suggestion leaves a sour taste. What I do know is that club legends don't always make for good managers and I am not overly keen on Sir Les being allowed to cut his managerial teeth on our premiership survival. Look at Shearer as Newcastle manager, that was a similar situation. I'd rather a more proven manager.

What's your view of Sherwood mate? A one trick pony with no plan B or does he actually have something about him?
I think he's a good manager, in terms of tactics. Got Adebayor playing well (miracle worker) and made us better going forward. Where he falls down is man managment. Apparently several of our best players were ready to leave if he stayed. Promoted youth through really well, Bentaleb and Kane are like a breath of fresh air to our team and Sherwood started that. Harry only wanted seasoned professionals. Sped everything up, with AVB we were so slow and safe, Sherwood had us pressing hard and passing quickly. Has something about him - but boy does he know it. Arrogant sod.

Utter garbage! Within hours of a last minute 5.30 am decision he has a full article printed detailing how a long established injury suddenly prevented him going on?? That coincides with end of the transfer window and stuffs new acquisitions for incoming manager!

Timing leaves us with only one option in my mind, an internal interim replacement, anyone one else, would just complain that they weren't able to bring in their own players.

Still believe we have enough quality to make a fight of it.

Harry Redknapp quit Queens Park Rangers – after a dramatic 5.30am phone call to Tony Fernandes.

Redknapp, 67, revealed he came to the decision he could not continue after being told he would need replacements for both right and left knees. Unable to walk even 100 yards, he accepted he was not the man to lead Rangers into their relegation fight. And he called owner Fernandes in the small hours to deliver the news.

'I was awake all night, thinking about it,' Redknapp told me. 'I'm struggling so badly now. I can't walk, I can barely stand and watch. I'm in pain all the time. I've been putting it off, and putting it off, but it has got to the stage where I cannot do the job.

'I booked a ticket for Fulham's FA Cup game with Sunderland on Tuesday night, but my first thought was, 'how am I going to get to the ground?' Even if I get a car park pass there is going to be some walking. I can't walk around Craven Cottage anymore, I can't walk down the street – that's how bad it has got.

'I went to see my grandson play football at the weekend, and after five minutes had to go back to the car. I couldn't even stand up. What sort of life is it if you can't watch the kids play? That sort of made my mind up. I went to bed thinking I would sleep on it, but then I couldn't sleep a wink. That's when I decided to call Tony. It must have been 5.30am. I just told him he needed someone who could properly coach and manage the team in the next ten weeks. It's such an important time. They need someone who can give it everything.'

Redknapp's resignation immediately brought speculation that he had become frustrated at a lack of activity in the transfer window. Rangers face financial fair play restrictions, and a huge fine, and have been working to cut budgets.

Yet he insisted this was not the case. 'I haven't got the hump, we haven't had a row,' said Redknapp. 'I knew some while ago that we were not going to be able to get much done in January. We had one real target on the last day, Emmanuel Adebayor, because we are short upfront. But he was too much money. I accept that. There are no hard feelings on my part – I've not had a problem with Tony Fernandes in all my time there.

'I even went to training this morning because it was my intention to say goodbye to the lads. I went to sort out some bits and pieces with the club and by the time I had finished they were gone. It's been that quick. I just made my mind up because events were piling up. Being told I needed both knees replaced was a huge blow. It would put me out of the game for months because you can't have them done together.

'Steve McClaren called me when he heard the news and we were talking about our time together at Rangers last year. He reminded me that I was on crutches for ten weeks back then. It's been a problem for too long now.

'I know what people think – that I've been sacked, or stormed off because we couldn't get the players in. My son Jamie said that my timing has to be the worst in the world. When I look back on my career, it certainly isn't my strong point – but I can't control what people think. I feel positive about the future at Rangers – Sandro is back at the weekend and he will make a huge difference. We've got other players coming back from injury, too – if I could get out and coach them like I could five years ago, I'd be optimistic. But I can't.

'I was totally honest with Tony. I told him he needed someone who could commit to every aspect of the job in the next ten weeks, and that's not me. I still don't think I'm finished with football. When I've had the operations, I'll be looking for work again, I know that. I can't imagine my life without it. But right now, I've got to make my health the priority.

'I can't even walk the dogs. I stand watching the team play, and I'm struggling. It's reached a point where I can't ignore it any longer. It's not a decision I would take lightly. I've thought about it a few times this season, but have always decided to give it one last go.

'The last week has been the tipping point. I can barely move and I'm not enjoying my life. I need to get this done as quickly as I can and try to move on. Nigel Pearson at Leicester City told me had a knee replacement and was ready to go again after six weeks. I'm not sure I'll be hopping about in that time, but I'll talk to Andy Williams, my surgeon, and we'll work out a plan.'

So if we had signed Adebayor he would still have resigned? Sorry don't buy this story.

Incredibly selfish time to resign. Clearly shows Harry was in it for Harry, not for the good of the club. If he wanted the best for QPR he would have used the knee problem at Christmas. It suddenly becoming a big problem now is just a little too coincidental for me. In one move he's removed himself from the mess he's created, and made it very very difficult for the next manager coming in due to the transfer window being shut.

Redknapp's record:
Games - 48
Wins - 9
Draws - 13
Defeats - 26
Win% - 19%

The worst record of any permanent QPR Manager in the Premier League.

He should have gone sooner!

This. And to think that he was lauded for the fact he got us back up. He should never have taken us down in the first place. We'll forget about the money put at his disposal, the support of the fans which often got the team over the line and the massive slice of luck that Charlie managed to stay injury free fro the finale.

It does remind me of the debate we used to have about the exploits of one Adel Taarabt. Brilliant in the Championship yet according to his detractors just not up to the standard in the Prem. Shouldn't some use the same standards to judge last season's stellar achievement.

How anyone can place the blame at the feet of a club hero instead of the fraud that was Redknapp is beyond me. The man probably realised he was tactically clueless in 2015 and has decided to call it a day. The knee excuse is absolutely laughable. He's dragged our club through the mud and has decided to leave once things have gotten tough. Imagine playing for a man who tried the same thing 11 times in a row away from home (losing 11 in the process). Crazy. It's good riddance from me, should have happened 2/3 months ago. Can anyone honestly say he looked like he wanted to manage us?

Well as I've said before. He's got form. Southampton. Let's hope we don't go the same way they did
