As a non-Cardiff fan, I'm not going to pass judgement on whether this will have any knock-on effects. I simply don't know enough about your financial situation or the potential of the Asian market to make an informed comment on that.

What I will say is that your owners have decided not to press ahead with this, despite having the ability to force this through if they were determined to. You've got to have a certain level of respect for that.

very reasonable comment there mate, miles better than some of the rubbish from non cardiff fans bandied about on here <ok>

thing is, we're losing £1m a month even when we're performing above expectations in the league, average over 20,000 crowd and havnt spent much on transfers and players this season. something is fundamentally wrong with this club for that to happen.

if we took the money all our debts would be wiped out, bigger stadium, new players etc, the caveat being that we play in red. or we risk the owners throwing in the towel (highly unlikely IMO) and more financial woes, but with the blue shirt. difficult choice that to be honest <ok>

honestly, theres wind ups and there's acting like a total ****ing dick. We've got about 5 threads on the issue and he says the same ****ing thing on each one - not to offer an opinion or constructive arguement - but just to ruin any CCFC debate.

It takes a special kind of sad **** to be like that.

Do what I did and put him on your 'ignore list'.

We've been there in the pretty recent past (2007-2010 or so).

The debt will be a big factor, but are wages an issue? When we were in our darkest days, our board worked out that to make a small operating loss, breaking even by making a profit on transfers, we need to have a wage cap of around £5-6k per week, with the bulk of the squad being on a fair bit less. For what it's worth, that four-man board had two ex-professional footballers on it (Julian Winter and some bloke called Graham Taylor).

Obviously what works for Watford may not be applicable to Cardiff, but if you were looking to imitate our model, I would guess your cap would be more like £9-10k a week, with most players being on around half that. And even then, you'd probably be losing a small amount of money unless you were making a little bit in the transfer market.
