Yes thanks.... read the rules....and as you are aware there is nothing in the rules whatsoever about name changes.

The only explicit reference to consultation is referred to in Stakeholder Relations and defined thus:

A Club’s policy with regard to its stakeholders should:
R.19.1. provide for consultation with them on a regular basis through forums,
questionnaires and focus groups and by the publication of current policies
    on major issues in an easily digested format;

As I stated previously, Allam could comply fully with the above statement by simply communicating his intentions. No negotiation or compromise necessary.

That's not what I meant. I meant has he said its to entice foreign markets, make a non-football brand, build a sporting club etc.

He can't really be changing the name just because he likes it better, there has to be some gain, he knows how much opposition there is against it and how club merchandise will almost certainly take a hit from it. It goes against his business ethics.

I'm confused. If he's going to use something that's not the name of a football club to sell non-football products, why did he need City at all? Maybe this is what he meant when he said City's irrelevant?

What's he selling, boxes of matches and bootlaces?

The name change is a major issue. Yes he could issue a policy document stating he is going to change the name. However there has to be regular discussion through forums, questionnaires, focus groups etc.

The implicit intention is that on major issues the club consults with it stakeholders therefore on the name change the club would have to show it has consulted its stakeholders, including the freehold owner of the ground.

It is up to the Premier League to interpret its rules (or the courts) not Assem Allam. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

We'll be asking the Premier League to follow its rules, no consultation with the stakeholders, no name change. The run up to April will be interesting.

This isn't about selling shirts in China and anyone who thinks it is must be living in la la land.

This is about owning a club that plays in the top domestic league in the world with global audiences and being able to call it what you want.

Forget the value of tradition, bring in the value of global recognition.

One day the EPL will fracture and the top clubs will be playing global club football. To reach that point will need massive funding from a club the size of ours.

The catchment area for our club will increase to include areas as far away as Sheffield and Nottingham. In order to service the projected home support, the club will need to move to a new location that has the infrastructure to cope with the increased attendance.

The new franchise will be called what it's owners want it to be called.

That is the benefit of change. The first step to globalisation and the first leap into a new era of football.

If that's what you want fine. If AFC and then City are not important, why is Hull? It is not logical to keep a name of a small city. Change the name, move the club and become billionaires in the process. Why not?

And what forum do you think you have to present your case to the Premier League.....?

Allam will submit his application. The Premier League will ask for evidence. He will provide the evidence of communicating his intentions.
There is nothing in the interpretation that he has to demonstrate that all fans are happy with the proposal, just that they have been "consulted".
Expect to be "consulted to" very shortly.

The Look North interview is on Youtube, so is the Calendar one. The articles re the name change are in the Hull Daily Mail and the Guardian, why not spend some time reading them.

If you can find anything in his words that explains why please enlighten us. As far as I know he has only recently commissioned Hull University to draw up a report at how we can exploit the Asian market.

In Asian blue is an unlucky colour (according to the owner of Cardiff City) so what colour did we pick for our away kit?

The Premier League will be able to do nothing.
They will not be allowed to dictate anything to a Football Club owner, to do so would be against the interest of all the other owners in the Premier League. If they interfere and start dictating to the owners the owners would threaten to leave and form a Super League (some are just waiting for the excuse).

The Premier League sets the rules, they will vote on the name change. I presume you know who will be on the committee. Do you really think the owners of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea etc will do what Assem Allam wants if its not in their interest?

A committee places a vote upon everything in the Premier League.

    Like most other places?

And with Macca's last incisive post the futility of it all is well stated.

His edit is noted and well received <ok>

The 'consultation' will be short, sharp and to the point, it will be made to audiences who have been chosen well and I very much doubt the landlord will be considered a stakeholder.

The longer and more business-like you make the campaign, the more likely it is that you will fail. Only strong, strident public opinion, aimed directly at the owners, within the home stadium and at away venues will bring wider opinion to bear and only a real financial hit, over a prolonged period will cause him discomfort; he will weather the storm and turn the apathetic into anti-campaigners. This is a form of self-harm and therefore futile. beyond a certain point.

The man is not to be trusted, he is not straight with his customers(stakeholders?) and any hope of him backing down is wasted.

This is complete nonsense, the Asian and US markets buy into success, history and heritage, not a daft name change. I got back from China on Saturday morning, just in time for the Newcastle game and my football supporting friends in Hong Kong asked me why on earth we were ****ing about with our name, they think it's just as daft as English fans.

You do right, Assem is far more successful than I am ever likely to be.

Only I've been business in Asia for thirty years and have been involved in international brand management for the past fifteen years, so maybe this is a specific area I'm rather knowledgeable about?

I'lll prove this before the end of this season.
