He hasn't sabotaged your season at all, if he leaves, he is leaving you in 7th place in arguably the most difficult league in the world.
I don't know Beth. All I got was he's gone. Taken all the back-room staff with him. I don't know how far that extends to. Should be announced today. The source is Clint Hill.
1 point in 5 games and playing like strangers, taking the backroom staff as well at a crucial break in the season after giving us that loyalty bollox? You'd have to go long way to f*ck our season up even more. Oh, hang on, there's the January window...
Not sure if this is normal, but could he be asked to sign a lawful agreement that he is not allowed to poach our players, especially in the circumstances?
Sabotage implies that he deliberately set the team up to not win any of the last 5 games, which I find ludicrous. You should be glad it is at a break in the season and taking your backroom staff with you is hardly unheard of.
It wouldn't be up to him, it would need to be Rangers that signed that as Rangers buy the players not Beale.
Well maybe we can get a legal agreement that Rangers need to add an extra 25 mil to any purchases from Qpr they can start with taking Bonne and Thomas off our hands for 50mil
Who is to say that your board don't want Rangers to bid for your players? Whatever we can afford to pay for them then a Championship team can pay a lot more, it shouldn't be us that you are worried about.
On the other hand he will leave us 8pts off bottom 3, basically hasn't got the bottle for a relegation battle!
That is a very bizarre way to look at things, if I were you I would look at it, he has only got 2 fewer wins in the league than top placed Burnley and has spent **** all, but of course that is your perogative.
I think you are beginning to big him up a bit in your head now, your initial instincts are I suspect correct. Of course I would prefer him to stay, if only for stability and continuity, but I don’t see him as a big club manager at the moment. His reputation has been built at junior levels and as a number two with you. As a number two with Villa he was there when the dreadful run which eventually led to Gerard getting the boot began, they were truly dire for most of last season. Although it’s only 5 games, most of which I have seen live, we have been really awful in this run and he doesn’t seem to be able to make positive changes either during or between games. He had a great start to the season and has been lucky with the timing of the World Cup. In some clubs another couple of games without a win and he would be facing the sack (we can’t afford this kind of behaviour). I should imagine that the pressure of managing Rangers will be a different level to what he gets now, and the expectation to close that gap to Celtic rapidly will be huge. Interesting to see how he copes. He’s obviously an asset for us on balance, but it begs the question what’s the point of having a managerial asset if it just means every vacancy they could be poached? If ****ing Nathan Jones can get a PL job the talent pool is desperately shallow.
I have not changed my stance at all, I think he has been great for QPR but he a huge gamble for us and I would prefer him in a few years instead. My preferred choice is Knutsen, the manager of Bodo/Glimt. If it is Beale, which looks increasingly likely then so be it, just because he is a gamble, it isn't cast in stone that he is a gamble that won't work out.
Just playing devil's advocate. Beale has done a decent job but is no way our new Messiah. We have been very poor in a number of games and have been lucky to gain 3pts in some. However we have also played some outstanding football at times and this will all continue whomever is our Coach/manager as we have some very good players presently
I’m probably alone here, aside from some naivety in what he said post Wolves, I think he’s done little wrong. Our current position in the league and where we have been this season, we could only have fantasised about. We are rightly upset/angry he’s going because he’s been good for us. For Mick, it’s a job and I suspect he has more than doubled his salary and has negotiated a contract that will pay him handsomely even if he fails at GR. He’s a young man and this deal could financially set him up for life. I like Mick, I thought his post match chats were more honest than most. He avoided the usual generic whining about the officials and banal excuses that many managers spout after a bad 90 mins. If anything, I’m just sorely disappointed, particularly after what was spouted about integrity after the Wolves approach. Nonetheless, I wish Mick and GR success. The GR fans have had a shedload of 5hit mismanagement, (way over and beyond anything we have experienced) in the last decade, so I reckon it won’t hurt to see them stick it to the Celts for a season or two. My view will change rapidly if Mick tries to poach our players, of course.
Beale won’t last the season at Rangers. A heart over head decision. You need proper experience and he doesn’t have that. Unfortunately this will derail his career. There’s always every chance he’ll drop you at the first opportunity if he does do well due to his lack of integrity.
Neil Critchley of Blackpool has been mentioned. Shared Liverpool U18 coach background with Beale, and has done very well at Blackpool.
