Only in Hull (sorry the East Riding) are people as small minded as you. Leeds festival isn't in Leeds, I wonder how many people in West Yorkshire actually give a ****. Its a big event in their local area and they enjoy it, what else matters?

Its such a stupid, insular attitude that really thrives in Hull, instead of just enjoying one of the best things to happen to the local area for years, people (who I'm guessing didn't even go?) moan about utter nonsense like this online.
Very well said <ok>

Hull folk are some of the most insular, parochial folk there are. As you agree with at the start of your second paragraph.

No I didn't go. At my age my days of festival going are long gone. I didn't go to biggest and

the best Isle Of Wight one. Most of our crowd went but myself and a mate were watching City get beat at Watford. Not even 2 coach full there in what turned out to be our best season for half a century.

If I couldn't go to the biggest festival of all ime, up to 700,000 people there for a bill including the Who and Dylan and a host of other people I liked aged 20 I wasn't likely to be watching a load of people I have no interest in,or in many instances, never heard of in my 60s. To be fair I didn't see many 60 year olds attending festivals in the days I did either. I think my mate's found it easier getting to the IOW with 700,000 others than some of the 50,000 did getting to Brandesburton. <laugh>

Glad everyone who went had a good time. You are only young once and it slips by quicker than you expect.

No wonder people found it hard getting to Brandesburton all the busses were going to Burton Constable

This weekend was a massive boost in changing people's perspective of our city. It'll be trending on YouTube for the next week and played on the BBC's radio and TV channels over the next month. People that broadcast to the country will be talking about us and the concert that was held here.

So many people will still be buzzing from this. Once-in-a-lifetime it being held in Hull.

As Rita Ora said (along these lines anyway) during her set: Unity is a great thing and the fact we're all together after what happened is powerful.
They policed it really well and should try a similar approach with City games. They mingled well with the crowds, joined in with the singing and dancing and kept everybody on the right side of the law. Well done!
Not sure I can see the police at a City match joining in with "Jump up if you,re Hull City".....

We may live in the moaning and groaning capital of the UK.
I think it's just ingrained in people and they love to pull the place apart.
Now don't get me wrong there's plenty of things that are not perfect but there's some decent stuff going on.

Hull folk & the East Riding folk are basically the same. R1 Big Weekend was fantastic publicity for all of us.

The only thing that would ever stop the City of culture being a success would of been the attitude of the moaning sections of the area. They have been smashed into the ground and lets face it they are usually errrr well a bit odd...

I agree with most Airlies post and the bit you refer to? That's his opinion and he's welcome to it because he doesn't bang on about it ad nauseam.

To be honest I thought he intended to write ER but for some reason write Hull instead.

Aaaaaaaaand ignore list. No idea where I will now find news on Sunderland and Burnley's catchment areas or how we all hate Leeds, Hull and young people but I'll survive.

Probably best that I take a break from this site over the summer. Some of you could start an argument with a mirror. Arf! <smirk> and all that b******s.

I'd better just add some rindom tippos for some of u 2 coment on.

It's the same in any city, town or village anywhere in the world.

Police have confirmed there wasn't a single arrest at the event.

They seem to have got a lot of praise this weekend, I've seen plenty of videos of them dancing with people etc, they should try the same approach at City games.
A minor difference was, there wasn't groups of one bands fans shouting at and generally acting like ****s towards another bands fans.

You obviously didn't watch the iPlayer coverage then.

During Kasabian and I dare say other acts there was the usual moshpits going on. Harmless fun to some people, bit intimidating and hard to avoid for others. I'm not going to debate the merits or otherwise of that, but it's definitely more violent than anything you see at the average football match, and this happens at almost every music concert or festival.

Yet because it's not football fans it's all good natured, while anyone who shouts at the football is a disgraceful thug.
