Wanted to get there early today. Soak in the atmosphere, welcome GA etc. Got on the train at Hanger Lane after waiting only a minute for it to arrive, to be told there would be a short delay. Waited for 10 mins then they said rail failure and they'd switched off the current and men working on the track. Frantic dash to the 95 bus. Traffic thankfully light so only arrived 20 mins late with scores of others in the same ...train! I did wonder if this was a bad omen though I do not believe in those. I missed their first which I was not unhappy with.
The atmosphere from our fans was good but as others have written did diminish.
I though the team were playing with more energy, determination to win the ball and some grit.
I'd chosen for a draw in our prediction league as I felt that would be reasonable progress. Obviously I wanted to see what GA could achieve in just a few days
I think there were encouraging signs. Chair, Kakay, Johanson and Martin did well. Field too. The defence, however, were slow and clumsy.
Ainsworth now has a full week to further instill his ideas and methods.
We are indeed in a relegation scrap but we have an 8 point advantage which drops to 5 if the bottom teams win their game in hand.
Our away games are huge six pointers. A couple of wins and a couple of draws will probably suffice at 47 points.
Yes, we lost but let's hope GA can turn this lot into a band of brothers and quickly!
To cap it all, the bus journey home took over 90 mins 60 of which were to get from the White City stop to Savoy Circus! Another omen? Nah! The Rss are staying up!!
