Having been at the game yesterday, two things strike me:

1. We're nowhere near good enough to play out from the back. The confidence of Dunne, and particularly Dickie, is shot to pieces. Blackburn knew it and swarmed all over them, forcing numerous mistakes. For the remainder of this season we're going to have to play long to Chris Martin. He's all we've got upfront and is Ainsworth's Akinfenwa. Immobile but a target man, holding the ball up well and allowing others to run off him. It's not going to be pretty but we simply don't have the quality or confidence to play out from the back any more. Keep doing that and we're going to come unstuck time and again. For our survival, it's got to go long and early. Ugly and nasty but it's our only hope of staying up.

2 As much as I now hate the bloke, and it pains me to say this, but how good a coach must Beale be to have got this lot to the top of the table?
1. I think we need to have another ‘out’ down the wings, not just the middle. Kakay did it well yesterday, I’d play him as a winger, he’s pretty erratic in defence.
2. He had both Chair and Willock playing very well and scoring wonder goals. When they are on form and making the right decisions they look very good players. But they are not good enough to do it for the majority of the time, let alone all of it. Only worked to October for Beale, this rot set in under him. Warburton had the same for a bit of last season. When the inevitable happens and these two dry up, the whole team collapses because the opposition have absolutely **** all to be scared of. Doesn’t really matter who the coach is…..unless they can find a way to get the whole team playing and not depending on one or both of these two.

Heresy, I know, but we're a much better side with Dykes playing. Martin did well yesterday for 60 mins, but there was an excruciating period in the second half where they just played the ball between their goalkeeper and CBs and we just stood back and watched them. Lowe then tried to close them down, but on his own. Farcical.

Far from heresy. But, if my experience of pneumonia is anything to go by ( and I wasn’t hospitalised), I don’t think we’ll see Dykes again this season.

I kept an eye on Ainsworth yesterday. In the first half at least he was hugely animated, even jumping up to mock head the ball for a clearance, and wildly celebrated basic things like tackling and chasing back. I think he knows this is a back to basics job.

Agree on point two. Our dismal run shows now how much we relied on them, particularly Willock, when they were on fire. Their form masked a lot of underlying problems. So much so, we now have absolutely zero threat.
