"Thompson and Buendia have offered more forward momentum in 5mins than some of the starters did over 45+. No doubt they've sensed an opportunity."

"City corner... Zimmermann header saved before Phillips does very well to deny Cantwell from range. Norwich finishing strongly."

Probably too late.

Didn't say that, quite happy with Krul, but had that been Remi someone like you would been the first to say something.
I based my opinions on Matthews after watching the full 90 minutes on a stream where he made 2 mistakes and looked shaky every time the ball went near him, we won 3-2 .

The next game he let in a long hoofed free kick from about 80 yards nodded in after a mix up with his defence .

From what I saw he was very nervous and looked terrible.

I haven't seen today's goal so won't comment.

So DD, you base your opinion on a stream which obviously had fantastic coverage and many angled cameras and then in the next match he let in a goal from "about 80 yards". Glad you are not commenting on today's goal, when Tim Krul was in goal, not Mathews.
I haven't seen it , if he is as bad as butterfingers then we are ****ed.

It was a late deflection which wrong footed Krul. Let's not roast him just yet. Plenty of time for that during the season. :emoticon-0110-tongu
I don't think anyone is roasting him, just pointing out some double standards.

Can't really read too much into pre season, the teams change so much every game.

I'm not saying DD was right, but what did everyone that took the opposite view to him base their opinion on. I didn't realise so many posters on here attended these sort of games.

No, you can't. When we win the pessimists are the first to say pre-season games mean nothing, but when we lose, it's all over now. I still feel confident about this new squad and look forward to seeing what they can do.

I have seen the streams referred to and they are poor quality and impossible to form a reasoned response to.

I'm afraid the only positive thing coming from DD is his negativity.

You can't draw much from pre-season, but the only clean sheet we've kept was against Crawley, who had their 40 year old player-coach up front for half the game.

We can blame freak goals and deflections, but I don't think that hides what appears to be a porous back line.

As one of those, I argued that pre-season is exactly that - pre-season. But more than that, the goals conceded are the responsibility of the whole team rather than one individual. Singling out players can be corrosive and sadly we have a portion of our fan base which insists on doing just that.

I didn't say I agreed with him, I certainly don't on a lot of things and he doesn't always help himself in the way he puts his view across, but for posters to discount his opinion based on the same information or less than he says he based his opinion on seems a little disingenuous. Personally on Matthews I think he has every chance of making it as a championship keeper, but I not convinced he's ready yet to be the first choice keeper for a team looking to make the play offs

That back line is the same one we had last season with all those clean sheets attributed to Gunn. In pre-season, the line-up is constantly changing. That's bound to have an effect. I'll judge by regular season performances.

A team is not a collective. Yes there's team responsibility, but this should never be taken to the extreme that individual responsibility no longer matters. I accept that many mistakes can be shared, but this needs to be done proportionally. To improve a team on limited resources you look at your weakest areas and improve, which is a constant process. If Matthews doesn't look confident in a pre-season games when nothing is at stake, what makes you think he'll be different a few weeks later playing to a full house at Carrow Road, when its all to play for. DD doesn't do himself any favours in the way he puts his view forward, but on this occasion it would seem he reached the same conclusion as DF, albeit on a lot less evidence.

Even a broken clock's right twice a day.

Maybe you shouldn't criticise the stream Dave it was crystal clear when I watched it, perhaps it's your hotel Wi-Fi or something or you need a new computer.

Wanting my team to be better and evolve is not negative Dave and If Matthews started the season in goal I would hope he does brilliantly.

Better to have a few stinkers in a meaningless friendly than in a competitive match.

In my opinion.
