Just to keep it all in one place (Don't think we have a thread already) 3-1 tonight, with goals from McLean, Hernandez and Thompson. Raggett with an own goal at the other end. 1st half (3-3-2-2) McGovern Godfrey Zimmerman Klose Passlack Tettey Stiepermann McLean Leitner Srbeny Pukki 2nd Half (4-1-4-1) Matthews Marshall Zimmerman Raggett Aarons Thompson Hernandez Trybull Leitner Wildschut Rhodes Comments from the Pinkun: -Apparently we turned down the chance to have a clause to make Rhodes permanent. -Expect a winger still to sign -No goalkeeper expected -DF expects further deals to be made. -Martin isn't training with the senior squad at the moment -Raggett looked worryingly uncomfortable as a ball-playing CB. He lost possession multiple times and it was the cause of his own goal. -Rhodes impressed, looks fit and was winning headers. MB: "Signs of a presence up front that City have lacked for a while". He also spent the longest post-match meeting the fans. -Lewis and Hanley had minor muscle problems so weren't risked.
Thanks DH. I was wondering where Lewis got to... I feared transfer news inbound. Good to hear Rhodes had a good run out and sounds pleased to be here.
Just seen this from the EDP match report - 'McLean exudes poise and possesses a sweet left foot that could do damage if given time and space in the right areas. His sweetly struck free kick to open the scoring four minutes from the interval was a thing of beauty, arcing over the wall and past the motionless Josh Vickers.' http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-lincoln-city-pre-season-friendly-report-1-5600853
Is Buendia injured? Was looking forward to seeing what his style of play was like in pre season! Also interested in how DF plans of fitting him in with Hernandez, Marshall, McLean and Pukki. Imagine it will be one of those 5 either side of Rhodes/Srbeny?
Rhodes? - Jordan Rhodes? I read rumours a few weeks ago but never heard or read anything set in stone Just found it on the BBC website - very recent. That explains why I missed it
His previous club's season finished late, so he's still in fitness training. He'll be available for the German tour though.
It's great to hear about McLean as he's the new boy I'm counting on to step into the first team like he belongs from the get-go.
Yes, he does look to be an exciting player with a wicked left foot. His free-kick was top class and he can put crosses on the head. There's so much that's potentially improved about our attack and we haven't even seen Buendia yet. Rhodes and Pukki have given us strength up front as well. This has been a great window and far beyond my expectations.
It's something to do with how the Argentina league is set up. He hasn't had a break, so he is having a bit of holiday time.
Friendly at Colney against Crawley Town. Playing 4 by 30 minute quarters Matthews; Passlack, Raggett, Klose (c), Aarons; Godfrey; Pukki, McLean, Leitner, Wildschut; Rhodes. Unused subs: McGovern, Husband, Zimmermann, Marshall, Stiepermann, Trybull, Hernandez, Srbeny, Cantwell. I'm guessing that with the addition of Thompson/deletion of Husband, pretty much our first team squad!! Edit - From MB at the game - That said, I do like what I've seen so far of Kenny McLean with the ball.
Being described as a 4-1-4-1, Aarons out of position at LB, Godfrey gets a first chance as the single DM.
For what it's worth, before last season transfermarkt listed Farke's favorite formation as being 4-1-4-1.
Michael Bailey thinks it's 4-1-4-1 again for the second period. McGovern Marshall Godfrey Zimmerman Husband Trybull Passlack Cantwell Stiepermann Hernandez Srbeny That attacking midfield 4 looks a bit makeshift.
Seems to be working well enough with City leading 2-0 with goals from Srbeny and Stiepermann, Hernandez with the assists.
