Vetch, your explanation can be applied to more than just african nations, I have seen similar male domination in Nepal, Thailand, Mexico, the Dominican republic and Belize. However, it does not apply to all the male population and cannot be transferred to, dare I say it, the more civilised western culture. Your original statement implied all black men, not just those you encountered, so I would agree with others an apology would be the right thing.
Indeed. A ban would not be inappropriate either. I don't want to come on here and read nasty cheap racist comments.
He wont get a ban, not from me anyway, he didn't say it with the intention of upsetting anyone, as he has explained what he meant. Did it come out all wrong, IMO yes it did, did he intend to offend anyone, I don't believe so. If valley see's it differently, then fair enough.
I'm sure it can, taff, but I have no experiences of similar situations in the countries you mention. Apart from Thailand that is,where women hold males in very low esteem, and there has to good reasons for that. Clearly,to generalise is incorrect, and I have already apologised for seemingly having done so. It was done in error, and without malice. I think Kwame knows that now,or at least I hope he does. Thanks for your input,by the way.
I don't intend to dignify this post with a response. If any mod wants to ban me,hey,I'm O.K. with that.
It's ridiculous imo. Lib made an ill-judged sweeping statement that was offensive (sorry mate) and has apologised for it. The one person who would probably be the most offended has accepted that graciously so we can do without others trying to stir things up. Let it go fo ****'s sake. I've seen a lot worse here without apology over the last few months and nothing done about it, and it's usually the same ones doing it by either insulting others or trying to provoke a response. Lib is an excellent poster and talks a lot more sense than most. No offence to anyone intended.
For the record,I have P.M.'d Kwame, and apologised once amore. So can we please let this particular subject go now. I realise that "Shylock" Uzi may not be getting his pint of blood now! Try again though Uzi,better luck next time,eh?
Hi everyone, I would also like to apologise to Libertarian and everyone else, debate is good but aggressive posts like mine yesterday don't help anyone. Think I may need to practice waiting a minute or two before hitting that post message button! I enjoy this site so don't want to be seen as the guy who comes on with personal attacks etc so hopefully expect more constructive input from me in the future. Cheers!
To be honest Kwame I can understand your offence and I'm sure Lib does too. I've just come back from Magaluf where some Brits were aggressive and fighting in one pub. If a Spanish person looking at the incident then said all of us were like that I'd be pretty annoyed about it. Of course they realise we're not all the same. Anyway, back to topic (kind of). Came across these today completely by chance: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...op-appeal-against-mothers-death-sentence.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-27509813 And Muslims wonder why their religion is criticised?
one has to admit though that there are Muslims and extremist Muslims, Shariah Law et al. As I said to a poster on the Cardiff board, one of my son in laws is a Bosnian Muslim, he doesn't give a rats ass about the extremists and tbh about Islam either
I see this argument all the time musty, with Politicians consistently saying that the extremists are "twisting" Islam. It's not true. They interperet the Qur'an literally and it's the moderates that pick and chose from Islam, much as Christians do. Fact is the punishment for apostacy in Islam is indeed death. That story above really pissed me off that human beings can do that to each other. Chaining a pregnant woman to the ground ffs! The other story is just the completely crazy Iranians entertaining us once again. 'Happy" is such a great song (danced to repeatedly by me last week in true Dad style) but those nut jobs can't have any of that. The world is crazy for sure and it's mainly down to that ****ing book of theirs!
in terms of westernisation and equality, based on that iran is roughly at the middle ages in terms of equality and their attitudes. the UK does have its faults but at least you over here a woman can compete in the olympics and drive a car (can they vote over in Iran yet?)..
Kwame I have known many good Black men from many African nations including Somalia, who are all hard working indeed, and I did not take Libertarian's comment as holding any water, it might have been his experience in the microcosm he visited on his travelles to Africa, but in no way did I take it as representative of Black people, and I'm glad he appologised, he's normally a good poster, but we are all imperfect!..................
I am reliably informed by the 'Good Book' that the creator (God) created both the heavenly creation (Angels) and man as 'Free moral agents' having the capacity to choose both right and wrong, now as the 'Good book' goes on to inform me that the 'Devil' (Which means slanderer) chose the path of rebellion and evil, now how is it that the creator's fault that the Devil who is now a fallen Angel, turns to the dark side and evil? On your reasoning Valley if your son robbed a bank the Criminal court could put you in prison for it!..............
Well it was until Tomfoolery posted the PDF Doc on the Muslim Grooming gangs and Child prostetution etc, but it's no laughing matter though is it Terror? I know where your coming from though!....
