Why do you keep replying to him? I am really curious how you can accept the anti-European rhetoric without pushback. He knows full well we all want peace, but uses this right wing talking point that it is peace Trump’s way or we have WW3. What happened to telling Putin to get out of Ukraine’s lands? What happened to treating leaders with respect?

The disingenuous hard right are all about this left/right divide. It is the core of their beings. But this issue now isn’t about the difference between centre left and right. It is about decency and democratic values. It is about a man so foul he saves the Tate brothers and crucifies Zelensky.

And this guy you respond to is so deep in his well of hate that he cannot even say Trump got this wrong.

Its not about left or right even if Os wants to put it that way. Left and right wing (modern era) parties in Europe have let their defences disappear believing the threat was gone and happy to "expect" the US to look after them while they spend the money elsewhere.

"What happened to telling Putin to get out of Ukraine's lands" Nothing because thats all they did with an added "Oh and btw can we have some more gas please."

"What happened to treating leaders with respect" We agree on that one. Trump and Vance should have had the nouse to nip that argument in the bud before it started but Vance was more bothered about bashing the previous administration and lost his head.

The "anti-European rhetoric" is deserved! (I include the UK as the part of this as they were part of it throughout most of the post cold war era) The EU has put tariffs on anything non EU but is now grandstanding about the US being reciprical. The EU got rich spending their defence budgets on other stuffs and is now a sh1tshow in terms of defence. The EU is clamping down on speech, thoughts, banging on dissenters doors. It was called out by Vance, which I pretty much agreed with and they ignored the "enemy within" message jumping to the conclusion he was on about immigrants when he was talking about the leadership of Europe itself being the enemy within.

The UK is following Germany's example of knocking on doors of people that criticize the government now! Maybe I should post what I post on here on twitter and see how long it takes the police to knock on my door instead of tackling crime?

The EU needed omeone to be straight and tell them like it is because they just go on and on and on and grandstand about people's manners, ideologies and completely ignore vital things like...............erm............their own populace, their safety, their concerns, their wishes.

The EU politicians have been the enemy of the European people for a long time.

The reason people here are so upset at Trump is because the truth hurts. He is just saying obvious things instead of repeating the lies that the global elite propagate

The other thing to consider is that while the left, the warmongering politicians and journalists all beat their chests, it would likely take UK/Europe about a decade to have a military strong enough to take on Russia.

Without the US, nato has no cards to play either.

Mate, this is factually inaccurate. Find me an example of anyone who was visited for ‘criticising government’. But also people need to stop defending posting vile stuff on the internet. It is not ok.

The one thing Zelenskyy did get wrong yesterday - he should have had a translator in there. That would have slowed/calmed the dialogue, given time to think, and his English isn't quite good enough to cope with that level of verbal pressure.

And they've had since 2014 to "absolutely f*ck them" but they haven't done anything other than big words and provide a bit of miltiary to hold Russia at Bay. The EU do not have the nerve. Boots on the ground in Starmer's terms is in response to the idea of a peace deal and troops being there to maintain that peace.

None of the European countries are prepared to stand up to Putin because they need the gas and everything they say is just about getting the words on media. If they were serious they could have immediately rolled up to the Ukraine border with their own troops and given warnings at that point.

And that is what Putin sees...........words with no actual incilnation to act on, no action, I can do what I want because they will just say more words.

In the UK? A woman had the police at her door last week for posts that were as simple as saying that her councillor should resign!. literally that was the content of her posts about a councillor that was in Andrew Gwynne's whatsapp group!
It is pretty well publicised that there are loads of people in Germany that get door knocks for criticising politicians. No doubt we will get there.

100%. He has good English but it would also give him a chance to pause the moment and "ahh sorry, that is not what I meant by that comment." Didn;t need to be an actual translator. Could've just had his advisor there to do it. But even then Trump and Vance should have the brains to understand that someone speaking in not their first language might not mean what something sounds like. I have 21 years of experience daily of that

Reality is we couldn't because we have a professional army and dictators will just draw more conscripts to send to their death. But I get what you mean. EU could easily have won a war against Russia IF they were actually prepared to back their threats.
