The Times has been excoriating of this government recently. People’s impression of the press is so wildly wrong on here, based on presumption. It’s interesting/worrying.
Forgive me for growing too old to be of any further use to you. I trust my 38 years in the NHS was of some use to you and your family.
****ing hell.

A system I paid into in every job I had from the age of 18 onwards, and was happy to because I would benefit from it myself.Im attacking the system not the retirees.
I think you read that post wrong mate

I think you should re-read what you wrote, mate.
Ok I see where you're coming from now, and you make a very strong point. The problem is that under capitalism there's no such thing as a safe way of investing money without a risk of losing part or all of it.You mean the system which just caused the government to pay £11bn to the Bank of England to bail out reckless decision makers?
The system that is causing the very inflation which the triple lock is trying to protect retirees from?
No. I will not change what I wrote. The system is ****ed.
People of your age shouldn’t be forced to pay into a system where their pensions are gambled and could collapse at any minute. You should be able to save in a hard money that doesn’t get eroded away over time.
It’s a disgrace that you’ve saved all your money into a system that doesn’t value your savings properly. And I hope for everyone’s sake that it can survive the inept government and that everyone has a pension left.

Maybe, but as dear old Charlie Marx said, the seeds of it's own destruction are sown deep in the belly of capitalism. That’s not actually true. There is no way of investing in this version of crony capitalism because the money system is based on nothing.
When the currency was backed by gold, there was little to no inflation and you could actually save your way to success.
The era of central banking and then the eventual move to fiat currency has ultimately robbed everyone of true capitalism that rewards work

Greedy bastards gotta be greedy bastards, that's the problem. It’s a long and complex topic. But I feel very strongly that capitalism is massively better than Marxism or communism.
Free markets are the best way for societies to come to decisions. Millions of inputs based on people’s free choice and protecting their property rights by law.
Unfortunately; for free market capitalism to work properly, you have to be able to trust the base later (aka the money). Unfortunately we can’t trust either the money itself or the corrupt financial institutions that leech off of it. Which is why we see degradation across the western world.
Is it a case of either/or. Is it not time to think outside the box. Both capitalism and communism central tennants are, in my view, economic. If we are to survive on this planet surely there needs to be a qualitative as well as a quantative perspective rather than measurement. It’s a long and complex topic. But I feel very strongly that capitalism is massively better than Marxism or communism.
