Slightly politics, more music, but do check out the new collaboration of Sleaford Mods and Orbital called Dirty Rat, which is out on Friday. Let's just say it takes no prisoners regarding the current government!

I saw a short piece by a Times reporter also calling for a general election but his reasoning was to leave Labour to deal with the mess whilst he and other Tory supporting journalists could heckle and criticise sufficiently to persuade the readers to go back to the Tories at the next election.
All the more reason why, I think, Labour should commit to changing the voting system to PR, because the money people aren’t just going to sit back whilst Labour try to create a fairer society.

The government has agreed to some changes to immigrant workers, specifically to help farmers with the build up to Christmas and preparing Turkeys.

What needs to be queried is why they MUST get “at least £10.10 an hour for at least 30 hours per week” when the National Minimum Wage is a mere £9.50 (for 23+ years old) an hour, with no stipulation as to the minimum number of hours the employee must be given.

IMMIGRATION rules have been changed so farmers can hire foreign poultry staff ahead of Christmas.

The changes to seasonal worker visa rules were confirmed by immigration minister Tom Pursglove.

Workers must get at least £10.10 an hour for at least 30 hours per week.

Mr Pursglove said in a written statement to Parliament yesterday: “These requirements are in place to discourage poor conditions often seen in the sector.”

Looks like either Hunt or Truss or, preferably, both, will be out any day now.

Is this really enough for Hunt to resign / be forced out? I get the point on Truss...

The Times has been excoriating of this government recently. People’s impression of the press is so wildly wrong on here, based on presumption. It’s interesting/worrying.

You were intimating that it was surprising that it was in The Times, unless I'm reading that very wrongly? The "tory supporting journalists" bit...

His own inference was that he would do that and the reference to other Tory supporting journalists wasn’t meant to imply that they only work for the Times.
Take your pick from any of the other media outlets that traditionally back the Tories.
And, even if “The Times has been excoriating of this government recently,” it doesn’t wipe out their stance over previous years with regards to support given to the Tory party.
    As Rachel Reeves said
“An arsonist is still an arsonist even when they turn up with a bucket of water and run back into the burning building“.
The same analogy can be used on journalists from all areas, that have recently turned on the government, after years of supporting their every decision.

    Sort of.

Some on here have turned on Ralph after years of supporting him... isn't this the same thing? He was right now they don't think he is?

Ah yes. Protect the triple lock.

Perfectly well functioning system where the young workers are robbed to prop up the retirees.

Nothing to see here. Just a completely broken monetary system
