I so wish Truss goes for the nuclear option and calls an election to try and fight her party off.
Blowing up and taking the whole ship down with her in a hubristic fireball would be a befitting end to 12 years of unmitigated failure.

Just a thought but if the Tory party are allowed to bin Truss and then replace her with another, as PM, chosen by Tory MPs alone, is that another step down the road to Fascism?

Tbh they know they cant trust their membership not to put someone like Braverman into the PM job next, so although its rather undemocratic its probably safer this way!

It’s not fascism, no. It doesn’t even go against the norms of our quaint Parliamentary system, as the majority party MP’s choose their leader to be PM.
The main issue is that those MP’s were elected on a manifesto of policies, and Truss has deviated radically from that manifesto, not once but twice. Some of the policies are becoming more and more like those of a fascist state though, particularly on voter ID, and the appalling immigration ideas.
But unless enough Tory MP’s side with the Opposition in a VOC, there isn’t much anyone can do about it.
I wouldn’t say that, no. But it would further expose a serious flaw with our electoral system, which is well overdue for reform.

Note the length of time it takes to bring new wells on stream and the fact of prices linked to international markets not production costs. Something that needs addressing along with insulating homes and businesses and reducing energy requirements. Another failing of current and previous governments. Not just in the UK but worldwide.

I have a feeling that in a few years we will be sitting down to watch ‘The Damned United (Kingdom)’ starring Michael Sheen as Liz Truss.
This government under Truss is an absolute ****ing disaster. Hunt has literally destroyed the mini budget from a couple of weeks ago. She has no credibility left at all.
Just a reminder that the man seemingly now in charge of government policy went out in the very first round of the leadership selection process.
You really couldn’t make this **** up.
Which is why we need a General Election.
The Tory party has proved that it’s judgment cannot be trusted with regards to picking a credible leader.
But we could have a pork market in the Chapel end, to whip up a bit of noise and atmosphere.
