No one is picking up on the fact that the EU has changed a lot since Merkel ceased to be German leader. The policies changes change as European governments change.

There is freedom of speech in UK. I think the issue is that there is more freedom to be an idiot in the US. People who climate change are as stupid as people who believe in a flat earth or think unicorns exist. In America, it is acceptable to think that Socialism and Islam are inherently wrong but to think unrestricted capitalism should be desired and to believe in UFOs or that Martians killed JFK.

As Europeans, we have little in common with the people. Few people are as wierd as Trump and Musk with the exception of our fat , cheese eating friend in North Korea. I think it is time to distance ourselves from the US as the Americans alienate themselves from the rest of the world. Time for Starmer to step up and call out Trump and for Trump to be publicly ridiculed by the global community.

Trump is doing exactly what we all said: dismantling American democracy one brick at a time. To declare himself a King, to establish that he doesn’t have to listen to the courts, to say he cannot break the law… these are very dangerous times.

I don’t think ridiculing him is the one. Like all bullies, as much as one can do, ignore him.

Jeez I ****ing hope he’s only here for the “promised” 4 years but I have a suspicion at some stage he’s going to instigate constitutional changes that allows a 3rd term.

I thought the same, but remember he’ll be 82 and possibly not even alive in 2028. We can only hope that the demented orange turd will alienate enough of the fools who voted for him by doing exactly what he said he was going to do, and that most of them will be not only worse off in their pockets but citizens of a country which has lost its position as the strongest economy in the world.

Trump, like Farage, is only a symptom. The real sickness is the large number of bitter frightened people willing to vote for them.

    It's already been done. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/01/23/trump-third-term-amendment-constitution-ogles.html
"A Republican House member introduced a resolution to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow President Donald Trump — and any other future president — to be elected to serve a third term.

Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee introduced the measure days after Trump was sworn in for a second nonconsecutive term in the White House.

The 22nd Amendment currently bars anyone from being elected to more than two terms."

I’ve never said it’s not real. The climate obviously changes.

I have consistently claimed 2 things:
    1) that its not man made. Ie. Humans impact is not as catastrophic as you guys believe

    2) I believe our ‘medicine’ is worse than the ‘illness’. (Stupid energy policies are going to do more harm to us than climate change, especially in the short term).

A lot of the political problems we are seeing are being caused by these horrendously stupid energy policies, so as usual… I am right.

This exact mindset is what is leading Europe to be a complete irrelevance globally.

Europeans for some reason think they are more virtuous than trump voting Americans, so they vote for insane liberal policies which are destroying the continent as an economic and industrial force

Right, time for another warning. Anyone who chooses to respond to Os needs to avoid the personal attacks. Play the post, not the poster.

And Os, just stop with the incessant devaluing of anyone who disagrees with you.

    No they are not.

American industry is not that great. It is struggling to compete with Maybe the Americans are good at IT but they are being outstripped by China in this too.

There is so much about the American system that is open to criticism starting with the worst education system in the Western World. Most Americans never travel abroad and only know how things work in America whilst remaining ignorant of the rest of their world.

This post is so detached from reality that it’s hard for me to comprehend how anyone can think this.

For sure, China is now the manufacturing giant in the globe and the ramifications of this are huge. I wouldn’t argue there.

But America is the centre of the world’s financial system and has the world’s largest economy. It’s the centre of everything.

You seem to be confusing a few different issues.

Are there some ignorant Americans? Sure, there is ignorance everywhere.

But most innovation in science, tech and everything else is being driven by America and has been for decades.

Anyone else after seeing Trump call Zelensky a dictator who doesn’t allow elections, think back to Richard Tice accusing the Labour government of the same thing, only to be put back in his box with the truth.
Sadly we are having to deal with “politicians” who only want headlines, irrespective of their veracity, in the knowledge that their next big lie will be along shortly, in time to overwhelm the truth.
I know Trump is looney tunes mental but his jumping so firmly and so quickly into Putin’s bed, begs the question (in my mind at least) - does Putin have any secret and damaging information on him that even the MAGA crew would be repulsed by?
Was he closer to Jeffrey Epstein than he would have us believe, for example?
I reckon Putin already has Johnson in their pocket, as a result of his off the books visit to his Russian friend in Italy, so how long before his political career gets restarted, especially with the Tories doing so badly.
I can picture Putin’s dream team of Johnson and Farage running the UK for the benefit of Russia.

Its extremely unlikely as it would be impossible to get the required 2/3 majority in both houses. Thank **** for that and the Orange arsehole will be gone. It's also expected many of Trumps undemocratic bills won't get passed. There's also the judicial battles to come which will curb the excesses of Trump, Musk and their sycophantic brown nosers.

The Founding fathers in the constitution recognized that an American president, any president, must not be above the law.
