I suspect that the Mail and the Express will spend their time slagging off any/all of the candidates in the Tory election free-for-all (except, possibly, Nadine Dorries), and tell everyone that none of them are fit to clean the sleaze off Boris' shoes. The Express will then spend the next five years trotting out stories about what Boris would have done/thought, about anything, in the same way that Princess Di is still a major part of the Express' raison d'etre.

When the Tories lose the next election, both the Mail and the Express (and probably a lot of the other papers) will point the finger at the Tories, and say "This wouldn't have happened if Boris was still in charge"

Apparently Penny Mordaunt has released a video in which William Blake's Jerusalem is the background music. This reminds me of the same cloth earthed idiocy David Cameron showed when claiming to like The Jam. If William Blake were alive today, I don't doubt for a moment that he would echo Paul Weller's sentiments; Weller, you may remember, told Cameron "I forbid you to like my music".

Allegedly, a senior Tory “source” has, said of the wannabe PMs, “There are rumours about candidates being involved in bondage, domination and sadomasochism, claims of inappropriate relationships and compromising, explicit photos”.
And Dominic Cummings has chipped in with a comment saying that three of them would be worse than Johnson and one is sleeping with an aide.
Business as usual then.
