There you go folks.

If he is offered the job then, I would be pleasantly suprised if he didn't take it, its one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Who know's if he wil lbe offered anything better in the future.

The worrying thing is that it was a tweet like this that was posted on a Thursday evening about him coming to us and Adkins going. Dismissed out of hand by most but we all know what happened. I hope it is not the case this time.

Just spoken to a mate who moved out to Spain, and reports on Espanyol for a living these days.

He says José Félix Díaz (who broke the story) is a good and reliable source. Not what I wanted to hear.

My gut feeling is he probably won't take it, but it's a close call. Not an easy decision to make - let's hope Nicola's persuasive powers prove to be effective once more.

However, if he does go, how do we know there will not be another great manager we haven't really come across just waiting in the wings?

It would be a huge, huge shame were he to go. Not a massive surprise if he had his head turned by Benfica, but I'm holding out hope that, like Nicola when he got the call from AC Milan, he has enough faith and excitement in the project to stay.

I'm not doubting the original story, I reckon it has been offered, all on Pochettino to decide. Huge decision to make, he could take his shot at the big-time now, or he could risk it with us, if he pulls it off here he will look incredible, if he cocks it up here he may never get another shot again at a big club. Putting my Southampton cap to the side, I reckon I'd be tempted to go if in the same shoes.

Best I can tell, Jorge Jesus was -- at four years -- the longest-serving Benfica manager since the 1950s. It's not the sort of place you go with the expectation that you'll be there for any great amount of time, but it's one of the better stepping-stones to the giants of continental football.
