On May 24th, 1884, Peterborough became the first city in Canada with electric street lighting.

Peterborough is home to the oldest wheel in Britain.

Katherine of Aragon is buried in the Cathedral.

Holme Fen, 6 miles south of Peterborough, is the lowest point in Britain at 9 feet below sea level.

Sir Henry Royce was from Peterborough, as was Archie Andrews.

Peterborough is home to one of the largest concentrations of Italian immigrants in the UK. More recently Peterborough had taken up to 80% of the 65,000 people who had arrived from the Baltic states, and each one has a bed.

Peterborough is the largest town or city in the UK without any local radio of its own.

"The Posh", a moniker was coined in 1921, after Pat Tirrell, manager of Fletton United, was reported to say he was "Looking for posh players for a posh new team".

The original name of the town was Medeshamstede, “place of the spring by the river” run by the guy with the superb name of Sexwulf. It was also called Gildenburgh for some reason. Due to repeated raids by the Danes, stronger fortifications were built, which were called St Peter's Burgh, hence the name.

Linguistically, yod-dropping is often heard from Peterborians, as in the rest of East Anglia, for example new as /nuː/.

I remember being there when John Whitney hit a thunderbolt that went in off the crossbar. 2 mins from time David D'Auria lost the ball in the middle of the park & Posh went down the other end & equalised!!!!

Hopefully Grant plays 4-3-3 then we’ll be treated to a lovely 0-0. Which I’d probably take on the balance of things. They need wins we just need points. Need to get over the hump of no wins though.

    What changes would people make?

Sir Justin Whittle took the ball and the winger into the advertisment boards, for the contender of tackle of the year, nobody out paced Sir Justin lol

I’ve gone for a Peterborough win, I think it’s just generally the result I’m expecting, probably 1-0, stupid penalty!
A few weeks ago, after the Preston game, there was a,”how many points from these games?” Question came up on FB, I put 0, as I could only see 3 matches, but then when I clicked on it, I saw it was actually 7 games, Derby to West Brom, so I changed my answer to 4 points, thinking, 3 from Barnsley & 1 from Peterborough. Although at this stage we are 1 point behind where I expected us to be, the 2 points we got were unexpected, so there’s still some hope, maybe! I’m sure Steve Bruce will get his first win for West Brom against us!

McCann will be desperate to put one over the club that fired him & the Peterborough players will up their game to impress the new manager. Shota has to realise this & set his team up accordingly. Lets hope the City that drew against QPR & Sheff Utd turn up tomorrow & not the shambles that lost to Barnsley.

Cambridgeshire, probably the flattest, most boring County in the country. The County’s **** is all herded into Peterborough. Peterborough, Cambridgeshire’s ****house.

    City 3-0 ****house.

You watch Grant play 3-5-2 just to spite us! I think because the 4-3-3 worked for us defensively in last 2 away games we'll probably stick to that but worry about Bernard at RB. I would find room for Elder somewhere and think I'd play Smith ahead of Forss even if his hamstring isn't done.

I remember Shota saying when asked about playing 4-3-3 against Fulham, he replied that “we can do it” evidently meaning before that he didn’t think we could play it at all.
