yea we can only hope he has a bit more ambition this time around. That's even if he does decide to get rid of Pardew. I'm not allowing myself to get happy to early!

I bet he was tactically ok by the majority who now say otherwise in his first season though...................

I agree, last season few would have questioned the tactics because we did well.

However this season he just hasn't pulled it out of the bag the same way and how can that be explained? People are unhappy because with the players we have and the Manager of the Year 2011/12 we shouldn't be anywhere near the relegation zone let alone chewing our nails off in the last few games of the season. If we had had a bad season, say we finished in 15th place but didn't have any concerns about relegation, I think there would be moaning but perhaps not the 'Pardew out' feeling there is now. However we have had a disastrous season and that is what it boils down to - the fact that this bad season has been so bad, and remains potentially disastrous.

I stuck by Pardew long after others had packed his bags, but after last season this season should absolutely not have happened this way. The comments about tactics and substitutions after many games this season prove to me that a significant part of the blame sits with Pardew.

It could all come down to whatever clauses have been put in Pardew's contract. I'd expect a relegation clause but is there something in there that says we must finish top 10? If there's a clause I would not be surprised to see him go although I agree with Snockers and think we should keep him on for another season and with a decent striker to partner Cisse we'll do pretty well. If there isn't a clause then it will cost to much to buy out the contract and he definitely stay.

Can you really see fat mike signing a contract with no loop holes
The bloke is a cretin but clever with his money

Last season and the start of this season we had a player called Demba Ba, who looking back, papered over the cracks.

He scored goals constantly. When you're wining people dont critisise how you play.

Our corners stat goes back to 2011. Our not wining when conceding first goes back to when pardew first took the reigns, which is frankly a digrace of a record.

Pardew has had us playing some of the worst football ive ever seen at SJP. Cabaye has been shocking lately, as well as most others. Despite fimishing 5th last season, these stats were gathering pace. How can that be brushed under the carpet?

No escaping this. It's pretty simple - players seem less fit, less motivated, substitutions are odd, loyalties stranger still and some of the strengthening was misplaced. Look at the previous season - there's always this over-riding suspicion that players simply took teams by surprise, that we blindsided some teams. Couldn't the same be said after January? Sissoko came in, destroyed Chelsea then disappeared. Good management, or just a bit of fortune from sticking an unknown quantity into the team?

If there is a realistic chance of getting either Rafa Benitez or Gus Poyet, then the club have to take it.

Pardew's sacking could be excused considering how near the trap door we are.

Benitez lives in Liverpool, so Everton looks favourite! Could/would he do it to the Red half?

Failing that, working in northern England would be the next best thing...

<etc>

EDIT: If Brighton get promoted then there's no chance we'll lure Poyet away.

We enjoyed a good spell under this boss, so no matter what happens, or how much pubic hair the guy decides to sellotape to his face, he deserves our respect whenever he parts ways with us.

I would gladly shake his hand should we ever meet, which is astonishing enough given how he entered the premises... I think we're at the point of being able to say it's a fact that he's not the right fit for the club though. And that's what I would say, rather than him being a generally poor manager.

He has some skills, but he's lacking skills we desperately need right now, and things we need if we want to progress. His strength of character to haul teams out of a mess, his ability to motivate beyond a winning streak, and his ability to galvanise a squad are clearly limited, and his style of play, which would quite obviously be effective under certain conditions, don't suit our players. The board have been pulling in another direction for a while, so it surprises me greatly they plumped for him at all, but he had a good season so it's fair enough to give him a crack at it. Shame it didn't work out, no hard feelings, but we now need to get the next appointment correct.

Is this a rallying call to pre-empt your "Vote for Tash" campaign?

I really don't think Pardew should be talking about his own situation like this yet.

It doesn't do him any favors and if they ask him the question, I'd rather he deflected it and said the only thing he's thinking about is the QPR game and getting a result.

What he's said here really goes unsaid after this season's debacle and we know Mike Ashley could fire ANY manger when he chooses regardless of performance frankly.
Pardew will have known when he took the job that if you dance with the devil you're likely to get burned so are we supposed to be sympathetic?

You know, it's ok when you wangle Hughton's job out of it isn't it Alan? He wasn't even given a chance to fail.

Preempting your own personal and professional disappointments or thinking about the next campaign can wait, lets focus on two huge matches for the immediate history of the only thing that matters...

This club and more specifically the fans!

Burn him, burn him good!

Agree. <ok>

And besides he shouldn't be getting our hopes up like this, only to disappoint us when he arrives back for duty in August! <wah>

If he does go I'm firmly in the corner of appointing a manager on the up with more modern thinking. They need to play football on the deck, be attack minded and passionate. I think Gus Poyet ticks all the right boxes

" They need to play football on the deck "

That's the Captain of the Titanic ruled out then, he'll definitely take us down......Errol Flynn would be my choice, he posessed a swashbuckling style with a cutting edge and never knew when he was beaten.

Who's this Errol Flynn you talk about and what team did he manage?
