It isn't a question of honesty, it is a case of sensible negotiation. You don't walk into a market and advertise a desperate need for a product and expect to get a decent price.

I consider myself an honest person but I will try every trick in the book to get a decent price for something when I am buying. I would expect our club to do the same.

Simpson I bet you a tenner. We won't give in to any wage demands and to be honest as horrifying the thought is I'm preying Colo signs very soon.

I don't see anyone claiming to say we will. I'm claiming regardless of the CB being a priority, we'll still be looking at strikers.

Our need for a defender is apparent to all so we have switched our "attention" there and hopefully will find it easier to find a reasonably priced striker as a result. Defenders generally cost less and are easier to find so we will suffer less from our apparent need.

Pardew has also said that Carr has numerous possibilities thoroughly scouted for every conceivable position.

Lets wait and see but I'm guessing that we will get a CB/LB and a striker this window.

Mr T, take a lesson, the key to any useful debate or discussion is to not talk about situations with multiple outcomes so as-a-matter-of-factly. If everyone was so set in stone and sure to happen, we all wouldn't waste our time talking about everything on here. And its obnoxious for you to talk to us all like we're all idiots and clueless when you can't know how its going to turn out, because it's impossible to! Say what you think will happen, but give up this 'it's a fact!' barrage, its annoying.

I agree but the fact our number one target failed his medical I pleased we won't buy until they tick all the boxes.

I don't think your all idiots and I apologise if that's how I come across,however I always seem to end up being right a few months down the line. I even get most results correct and have been known to win money predicting lottery numbers.

Don't know about you but I really can't think of any way of proceeding in light of his response!? Only mrtiote ...!
 
I agree with what Pardew said. In January we'll be paying over the odds, and on top of that the teams selling know that we have £35M burning in our pockets. But if we are patient then we'll get some good deals in summer, à la Cabaye, when our targets run out of contract... Of course with Ba and Tiote off to the ACoN, we'll be low in numbers and quality in certain areas but unlike last year we're pretty much safe. So instead of moaning maybe we should just give some of our fringe players a chance to show if their worthy to play the first team ...
