Well what I will say is I never said we don't need a CB. The fact is we were promised a striker and we ain't going to bother. I actually like the honesty this time around. The fact is we need both but they arn't available.

You fail to understand a scouting system, regardless of what the media say, we ALWAYS have targets.
I understand we may have them but they arn't available this window or they are too expensive. Jesus God heavens sake man.
We definitely need a CB more than a striker. We have 3 CBs and 2 of them are very injury prone, I'm surprised we've been so lucky. If Taylor and Williamson's serious injuries had ever coincided in the past we'd have played Perch/Kadar/Hall for 20+ games each time.

Availability has nothing to do with it. If a player wants to come here, or a club is resigned to losing a player even though they don't want to sell, they'll go. Carroll had a hands off warning, final day he went for 35 mil.
Exactly. We still want both a striker and a CB/LB. The only difference is we are no longer walking into "Strikers-R-Us" with a suitcase overflowing with money and shouting "It is essential that we buy a striker and we buy him now ... now what is your best price for him?"
Our need for a defender is apparent to all so we have switched our "attention" there and hopefully will find it easier to find a reasonably priced striker as a result. Defenders generally cost less and are easier to find so we will suffer less from our apparent need.
Pardew has also said that Carr has numerous possibilities thoroughly scouted for every conceivable position.
Lets wait and see but I'm guessing that we will get a CB/LB and a striker this window.

That was against the players wishes. They knew Modric is a model professional, meaning keeping him wouldn't cause a fuss and ruin the dressing room.
Well I beleive Pardew and I appreciate the honesty. Once again come Feb first I'll be proved correct. We may well bring in a defender but we won't add to what we have without selling.

We won't let players go. We're not in a position to let anyone go and MA/DL both know that!
Hilarious statement. We can just get some cheaper replacements again and do better but we will let players go my freind.
