We need something to get the stadium bouncing - try this and imagine! We Can Do What We Want - Drenge :
Dennis called this one on another thread It'd work. This, or perhaps their ode to paranoia and hatred ' My War'
I know Browny tried his best to ruin it for us but I still love 'Best Trip'. Just brings back so many memories of our first PL season especially the victories at Ars and Spurs.
I'm no fan of The Housemartins, but that's no reason not to adopt one of their songs, and I think choosing one that was made famous by a band with such strong local connections would be almost too obvious to be true. They identify so boldly with the city, on a national and international scale; their big album rams this home with its title. However, some of you have no clue whatsoever when it comes to the musicality of it. "It's happy hour again I think I might be happy if I wasn't out with them And they're happy it's a lovely place to be Happy that the fire is real the barman is a she" Imagine several thousand people trying to sing the words to that, all in unison. There are too many words/syllables crammed together; it's hard enough for a solo singer to deliver with the correct meter and scansion, never mind a choir. Caravan Of Love should have been a no-brainer, but we didn't have enough brain between us to make it work. It was even made famous as an a capella version! (And before anyone chimes in - yes, I know they didn't write it, but most people are more familiar with their version).
The Spiders From Mars... Ziggy Stardust - Played ahead of kick off. Changes - played when a sub is made. Starman - played when a the MotM is announced. It Aint Easy - Played when we lose.
Problem is, some of you are just making suggestions based on songs/bands because you really like them yourselves, not because they're going to be good, recognisable, anthems. Protomartyr? Black Flag? Drenge? Now I'd rather listen to those bands than The Housemartins, but for ****'s sake, get real.
