Just watched a brilliant programme on the Beeb about the 1968 rugby league challenge cup final aka the watersplash final.

I shall leave you all to watch it rather than ruin it but was heartening to note that banal questions by commentators are not a new phenomenon.
 
With Wolfsburg leading 3-1 against Cologne it looks like Hamburg are going to be relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in the club's history. They even have a clock in the stadium which counts how long they have been in the Bundesliga in years, days, hours, minutes and seconds (see below).This will be coming down over the summer I fancy.

The toerags among the SV Hamburg supporters are going f****n' bammy; cannae see the problem as they will now have a derby punch-up next season with the socialists, students, hookers and Celtic fans who follow St. Pauli!

Saw this advertised in the paper and was interested, then the last line gave away the ending <doh> will still watch though

The English Premier League circus finished for another year. Fair play to Man City the title was as good as over when they went to Stamford Bridge in November and absolutely dominated the champions. They have played some fantastic football during the season, a pleasure to watch. Burnley massively punching above their weight the other standout performers. Quite frankly the rest nowhere.
 
Good news regarding the England World Cup line up as Joe Hart gets the bullet from the squad. 2 tournaments too late but at least it's done now.
 
Wrote so many times that the reason that Pep Guardiola was not keen on Joe Hart was NOT his ability, or lack of, with his feet but that he was at fault with three of the goals scored by FC Bayern during their many Champion's League games against Manchester City when Pep was coach in Munich.

Jack Wilshere; undoubted skill and passing ability balanced against injury record and the amount of times possession given away when a great amount of goals are scored in today's football from the turnaround of the ball. Hope this 'ugly' description makes sense!

Some serious desperation in day 4 of the May Basho. One of the highlights for me is the pre-fight aggression and stare down by the Yokozuna Hakuho, the great *****lian born fighter. He's one of the best in the century's long history of the sport. A run down on the man's career can be seen below. Another I like is the Georgian born Levan Gorgadze, known in sumo as Tochinoshin. (He carries a huge bandage on his right knee.)

Day 5, May Basho. The battle tested Georgian Tochinoshin steps up again today. He's a man on a mission. According to the commentary, he wants a promotion to Ozeki, the second highest ranking behind Yokozuna. He has his work cut out but I hope he does it.

Tomorrow week the Isle of Man TT gets under way. It's one hell of a dangerous race, last year 3 competitors lost their lives on the course. The year before 5 riders were killed. In the last decade 32 competitors have died competing in the Isle of Man TT. Here's hoping all goes well this time around. Since the beginning of the event in 1907, 252 people have perished.

Frankfurt 3 - Bayern 1

Wasn't going to say a dicky bird about this game, as I am well aware I often say the wrong things, but, however, below is a rough translation from Telekom's T-Online website, which just about says it all in a few words. I would add too that the touchline behaviour of Bayern's Sports Director, Hasan Salihamidžić, was quite appalling too. Remonstrating with Niko Kovac does not bode well for the future?
