Just had a conversation with sons girlfriend about dressage being a sport....

How can judged competitions be a sport?

I can watch any sport where I can tell who won, faster, higher, stronger, longer, more accurate....
Olga Corbet and Nadia Comaneci may disagree

Corbet, Comaneci, Torvill and Dean are all dancers.... Brilliant ones, but I can't tell how they're better than the silver and bronze medalists....

As its up to others to decide, then I can't watch it with any sporting "get in!!" type enthusiasm.....

Boxing and judo combines both, as a competitor can win by knock out, or rely on judges decision....

Hmmm

TUNISIA'S SWIM SENSATION MUST BACK UP HIS WIN

It is hard to raise an eyebrow at the performance of Ahmed Hafnaoui without accusations flying. Hafnaoui is Tunisian and, at 18, has won swimming gold in the men’s 400metre freestyle.

He is ranked 16th in the world but has improved his best time by six seconds in 2021.

His inspiration is Tunisian distance swimmer Oussama Mellouli, who won gold at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, having received a doping suspension for the stimulant Adderall in 2007. Hafnaoui is a shock winner but there have been a few at these Olympics.

Can't believe another last second heartbreak in the Taekwondo, but another couple of medals in the pool, incredible. Shows the real value of legacy victories, Jade Jones in 2012 and people like Adlington in 2008 winning medals leading to increased lottery funding, further medals, further funding and now reaping the benefits. Was interesting listening to Lutalo talking about how Taekwondo in essence poach Kickboxers and other martial artists who don't have access to lottery funding to help boost olympic numbers and chances.

There's a lot of activity overnight in a myriad of sports. I suspect we'll wake up to a few more medals

I heard the British coach telling her not to look at the scoreboard. Instead of stepping back and getting on her bike she went forward and got booted on the nogging...Her fault. Game over. The ref was fecking useless and got bullied by the Korean coach. Stupid sport.
Sounds like they need Southgate in charge.

Ben Whittaker, British light heavy boxer looks like the real deal. Future world champion. You read it here first.
Whittaker won again. Against an Egyptian army slugger. Through to the next round.

Karriss Artingstall looks the bizz, as does Lauren Price. Hard as nails.

Roglic has just destroyed the rest of the field in the time trial.

I don't know whether you watched it, I thought Dumoulin was going to win it, as Roglic kept passing the Danish rider who set off before him, then the Danish rider came by him again, and they seem to change places on 2 or 3 occasions, which gave the impression Roglic was maybe slowing. As it turned out he wasn't and won it with time to spare.

Aye, Roglic was flying. Expected Ganna to be closer, but it wasn’t to be.
