Extremely capable assistant racehorse trainer to Martin Pipe for many years tooTrue. But he is the only British table tennis that springs to mind. Shows my age.![]()
Fred Perry for your age!I did. But, as I said, the fact that Chester Barnes is still the first name that springs to mind is an age giveaway.

This could be on a different thread, he was actually born in Hungary moved to the UK to escape the Nazi's. According to some on here, he shouldn't have been representing the uk.Viktor Barna, probably the most successful British table tennis player ever, 5 time world champion. I even used to have one of his bats as my uncle was mates with him back in the day. **** knows what happened to the bat, it was solid with a sort of hard textured leather like surface, no advanced rubber and sponge in those days.
Modern day, how about Will Bayley, number 1 world ranked Paralympic player.
I love table tennis, great sport, played a lot in my youth.
Our current best two (Drinkhall and Pritchard) have had more success than most since Douglas. Both have had notable scalps over the last few years (including against the top Chinese). The sport lost all funding for 2012 and have had little since. It meant these two had to move abroad to ensure quality training and coaching.Carl Prean was around for a while too.

My first name thought of was Desmond Douglas, who was tops when I was growing up and playing a bit. Then I thought of Chester Barnes - a colourful story he had. Then I worked back to Viktor Barna.I did. But, as I said, the fact that Chester Barnes is still the first name that springs to mind is an age giveaway.

SsssshIf nothing else, seeing "Tokyo 2020" in the background, at least helps us empathise with @askewshair when he's watching the football on-line.![]()

He doesn’t want to be disturbed until he finds out whether we got promoted or not…
He failed to understand the coaches instructions.British sprinter CJ Ujah has been suspended from competition after testing positive for a banned substance.
Ujah, 27, was part of Team GB men's 4x100m relay team which won silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics this month.
He’s British so I imagine he took the wrong asthma medication
Nothing to see here
