Moyes would be brilliant appointment. I can't think for a minute he would want to join us though
Thing is mate, I don't know. The target(s) I'd want are completely unachievable now due to SR allowing us to be quite so ****ed.
What I do know is that signing Corberan is literally repeating the same mistakes they made with Jones and Martin. Appointing middle of the road Championship managers who have never achieved anything but apparently have done well (measured by some unknown metric) in their respective smaller clubs. Corberan is such a tactical genius that he got done over by Martin quite comprehensively. He'd be ****e
The odds are leading me to believe nobody has a bloody clue. And I include Sports Republic in that.
Hopefully that doesn’t mean a scorched earth “just get someone in” policy, but it gives weight to the folly of leaving it far too long. If they need to slender money right now, they really should do it. If the Rohl thing is about compo, I’ll be very annoyed.
Corberan now favourite. Rohl now 7/1.
Looks like they hadn’t even considered the possibility of replacing RM until the Spurs game.
Which is baffling honestly.
I’d say Corberan has done significantly better than Jones or Martin in his career so far. Probably been the best manager in the Championship for the last couple of seasons. I think he would be the best appointment we could make. Whether or not it works out, who knows. Managers, like players, tend to fail more often than be successful regardless of previous history at other clubs. Recruitment in football, barring the absolute top managers/players (and even then it can go wrong), is a lottery
They had. Considered it at least.
I didn't want to be the one to say it but every time someone mentioned that Corberan has done well at WBA/Hudds considering the small budgets, I couldn't help but think that is exactly what Jones did with Luton.Looking at Wikipedia for clubs prior to West Brom shows he's not been great. Absolutely dreadful for Olympiacos, mediocre for Huddersfield and only a 43.4% win rate for the baggies. He shouldn't even make the shortlist much less be a pick.
Nathan Jones (in his 2nd Season at Luton) 40.6% win rate
Russell Martin 36.36 for Swansea.
They're all very similar managers in that they've not really achieved much, been at clubs a bit smaller than ourselves and most importantly are cheap. If this is the pond we're fishing in we may as well have kept Russ.

Quite entertaining watching the odds swing so much.
