Thanks mate, food sounds great! My dad can climb stairs but has lost his confidence with the ones inside the ground as he slipped a couple of times last time. I reckon there will be a lift if you ask and will chat to stewards when at match Saturday. Cheers pal, much appreciated! <cheers>

There's a safety officer who sends information out on away day communications. Might be worth having a chat with him about access to put his mind at rest. I'll put his email address in a spoiler as I don't like posting email addresses where they can be harvested by bots.

Thanks Becs, that's kind of you!

Sunderland shareholder Juan Sartori is causing annoyance at AS Monaco with his very public displays of love for the Black Cats.

That’s according to regional newspaper Corse Matin. They cover the Principality club today and how there is tension on and off the pitch. Not everything is going well, and as often happens the shareholders are being questioned about their commitment.

Things are shaky at every level at the club. They’ve lost six of their last seven on the pitch and need to start winning soon to get back towards their Champions League games.

Off the pitch, things are even worse. They are suffering from a loss of revenue linked to domestic TV rights. They have dropped from €40m to €9m in two season in that regard. That’s led to measures to help balance the books, including selling players. They still need €20m of sales before June 30th.

Inevitably, Monaco fans are not happy with the situation

‘Notably wearing the Sunderland shirt’
Sunderland

Last Saturday, they interrupted the cup match in Orléans, throwing flares onto the pitch. They’re criticising the management but also an ‘absent, distant presidency’. This, they feel, is exemplified by the vice presidents Ekaterina Rybolovleva, daughter of owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, and her husband, the Uruguayan Juan Sartori.

The latter in particular is causing anger. He ‘never hesitates’ to showcase himself on social media. This is often with his family and ‘notably wearing the Sunderland shirt’. He owns 36% of the Black Cats and is clearly a big fan. However, his consistent Sunderland love is causing tension around Monaco.

We’re sure that tension has been added to this season as Sunderland have impressed on their return to the Premier League. While more positive results will be welcomed in the North East, it seems they may only add to the growing tension across the Channel.

Satori, meanwhile, probably doesn’t care too much what is thought of his Sunderland shirts.

Something strikes me about that which I'll get to the bottom of.

The Corse Matin is the Corsican version of the Nice Matin which was my daily paper when I lived there.

If this story is only being reported in the Corse Matin it's possibly a bit of mischief ...

... a bit like when the Chronicle puts Sunderland stories in their paper.

I'll have a look.

Monaco are on DAZN now against Lorient and there's nee ****er there. Half the stadium looks like it's closed.

He got a lot of stick Sartori, especially been associated with the Donald era. He clearly loves what’s going on and happy to showcase our colours.
He keeps his head down, but there is not necessarily anything wrong with that, (so mostly does KLD). And Sartori must be keeping up with the pro rata spending, or presumably his share value would fall.

I'm pretty certain that KLD must be happy with him as a partner, or things would change.

All good!

Small ground anyway I think?
Yes it's a small ground but loads of empty seats and advertising banners pulled over the seats in the corners as if the tickets weren't on sale. Very odd. From reading the posts above about them it seems all is not well.

It only holds about 16k they average under 10k.

Actually there’s just not enough people in Monaco to fill it. Simple as that.

Nice is up the road and they get half decent crowds, and have a much more modern and accessible stadium.

Tell you what kind, bet that’s the most valuable stadium on earth (not far ahead of Fulham…)
The figures would blow people's minds tbh ...

... it takes up a huge percentage of the country.

I took a mate there who's hero is Hoddle, when I lived in Nice, and he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Aye I’ve not been in but we drove past and it is a good chunk of land, now that you mention in perspective to the place.

And it’s on flat land.

Tens of billions surely.

Hadn't thought of it like that!

Monaco, by area , famously would fit into NY Central Park! So that ground really is an enormous section of Monaco.

Getting the missus onboard now. Starting to feel like a proper family run club now.
Kyrils mam was is the club shop on Saturday before the game with Maurice (I think) and a couple of young kids. They were picking out clothing for the kids. I made the comment to my missus about how fantastic it is to see them get in amongst the supporters. They could have whatever they wanted hand delivered to their mansion in a limo with the money they have. They seem like proper football people and even their kids love it.
