Trying to keep all the possible extension talk on this thread...

Thanks mate - interesting! With the magnificent regeneration of Sunderland taking place (WDSC) it will be great for the city for the club to be right in the centre of the developing works.

Extending the SOL to 63,000 will support the other regeneration taking place. Hopefully some positive news on the studio works too.

The future looks bright

Always thought these were the South stand extension. There appears to be a massive new concourse available under the new extension?
Yes those are the updated plans made in a rush for the objection to the south end housing development ,with 2000 or so less seats than the previous plans .Im not sure how massive the south stand concourse will be but i doubt it will be much bigger than the west stand offering(the widths on the drawing are confusing and the kiosks will take up a lot of space).

As far as i know there are no leaked unofficial or official plans available for the east stand and the only reference i can find is the one bob made when said he was shown plans by KLD in his recent book.

It looks like the south stand will follow the footprint of the west stand and they have jigged it to get larger corporate offerings ? basically doing the best they can with the available space.

Im sure somebody on here will know but are keeping quiet until its official..Personally (and its not my money) i would make a statement with the east stand and have it extend much further back to shoe in first class purpose built corporate facilities and a concourse fit for purpose and to a standard our fans deserve.

The area between the existing south stand wall and the road is massive. There's space to expand back out towards the road and thus make the concourse bigger.

I've seen it at other grounds where they've built a new wall and increased the concourse space, then you just go through a gap where the original turnstiles were to get into the stadium. I was keen on that idea if we can't increase the overall stand.

After a bit of help lads. Has anyone done the 76 Yards thing yet? Looks canny and I thought might be a good thing to take my dad to. Although he can walk he's less steady and a bit unsure about going to games now, think there's something about a separate entrance?j It would just be as a one off treat like obviously! I know he wouldn't appreciate the fine dining thing, although that looks totally class! Just thought i'd ask before mebee shelling out. Any ideas?

I've seen it from the tour but never been in it on a matchday.

It's where the old club shop was, so the entrance is the old shop entrance. It's fitted out with wooden benches and chairs so it looks kind of like a school room. They've knocked the wall down and replaced it with windows and a door between the back of the room and the main concourse.

If he's ok with walking to the location and then walking through the main concourse and into the stand, he should manage it. I'm not sure exactly where the seats are located for this though.

Thanks Becs, I think that is the other new one Founders bar as I have seen that one a bit but not 76 yards. I can ask the stewards and have a look if there is a lift etc. Just read they do live music which could go either way like depending <laugh>

My nephew took his dad (my brother) in there earlier this season, again for a birthday treat.
It is the old Black Cats Bar.
It isn’t fine dining - they described the meal as a ‘posh pie and chips’.
Don’t know if stairs up/down would be the issue for your dad, or is there a lift?

Thanks mate, food sounds great! My dad can climb stairs but has lost his confidence with the ones inside the ground as he slipped a couple of times last time. I reckon there will be a lift if you ask and will chat to stewards when at match Saturday. Cheers pal, much appreciated! <cheers>

If your dad needs access to a lift it may be worthwhile contacting Chris Waters to get a letter from the Safety Officer rather trying to just gain admittance on the day. However, I seem to recall that there used to be access to a lift for the the Black Cats bar and i dont see that changing as a result of the renaming. I would try to contact the Club in advance to confirm arrangements, good luck.
