All grafted together nicely in the end. The best series on TV, could have done with another episode or 2.

    Hmmm.

    Different types of prog really.

'Bridge' is dealing in tension and noir. Seat gripping stuff at times.

Sherlock is mental gymnastics and trickery. Breathtaking dexterity.

Yep, that's the very one, rewritten several times including The Tunnel.

    THEORY - I know this isn't Doyle's books.

Moriarty is still dead IMO. On the screens it was only a picture that had been modified ala Soccer Am.

However, maybe Jim Moriarty is a puppet for someone else? Similar to how Jim acted in Series 1 Episode 3.

So 'Moriarty' isn't the guy we know him as.

    Just a thought.

Don't know if anyone saw the Q+A on twitter, but this one particularly caught my attention.

This return is in Doyle's books - Moriarty 'returns' but it turns out to be his brother.

It will be Moriarty though. Andrew Scott is a fantastic Moriarty and having someone else will be a cop out, especially with a tease like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "His Last Bow" was the last short story written about Sherlock? With that episode being "The Last Vow" I assume Season 4 will be all original material?

Probably not, they've only touched a fraction of the source material.

Even though it was called 'His Last Vow' after his final book, the story took more from 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes' and 'The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton'.

    Well then i'm a genius. <laugh>

I think bringing Moriarty's character was a bit of a cop out. He shot himself in the mouth. He died, there can't be a reasonable method for him to survive that.

I agree that Scott is superb and his performance during Sherlock's dying scene was nothing short of breath taking.

I just hope that they don't do something like having a kevlar coated mouth. I'd rather they bring in a different actor to play his brother.

I thought Lars Mikkelson was absolutely awesome. There is no reason as to why the next bad guy can't be as good/

    He fired a blank?

Yes, there are recorded deaths by blank bullets, but you can survive depending on the gun, the cartridge, etc.

Besides, from the moment he shot, we never saw his body. Even Sherlock didn't look back at him. We never really find out what happened to him.

OK, I thought they were progressing and relatively sticking to the story and using names of stories to reflect where they are in the 'Sherlock canon'. Sounds good! I think Moffat works better with pre-existing material. See: Doctor Who. Urgh.

Talking of cop outs....that really would be such a shame IMO.

Why can't Sherlock be on it? They both faked their deaths, why could they not do it together? Which has already mean alluded to in S03E01 (although I think they'll leave the supposed romance out of it <laugh>)

**** - what if it means the jump theory where Moriarty and Sherlock kiss is true?
