I'm not sure how anybody can ascertain how the honour killings aren't condemned enough by religion, culture or country unless you regularly digest information in Arabic/Farsi/Urdu whatever. Fair play if you do but for me, I haven't a clue what any Arab nation is doing to effectively tackle honour killings.

The issue is with religion, the fact that these people are brainwashed by lies has led them down a path that they simply cannot return from. Pride and honour take pride of place in Shari'a Law, for the people following this 'guideline to life' they'll never relinquish their pride, even if they've got to do hard time or the death penalty. Condemning won't lead to any changes with regards to honour killings.

That's why for me, allowing religion to flourish like never before in this country is absurd beyond comprehension and a recipe for disaster.

Think you've just hit the nail on the head right there mate.

What happens in other countries, it is after all their countries, and what some see as horrific acts, some them it's part of their lives.

Don't judge them on what they do in thier countries, you have no say on it. But do judge them, if it happens in the UK, and is breaking UK laws.

I'd agree with most of that, although I wouldn't want people like Smug gagged on having an opinion on what happens in other countries. I've a couple of Indian mates who basically think the way this country destroys cows en-masse is tantamount to beheading the queen in our country, within the walls of their local community. They've adapted though, and it's those who don't adapt that feed the media and chuck petrol on the fire.

I think we have to accept that horrific things go on in other countries and I doubt very much it'll change for the better in my lifetime, it disgusts me as much as the next person but so does cutting the fins off Sharks and chucking them back in the sea.

It was time for Father John's Saturday night bath and the young Nun, Sister Magdalene, had prepared the bath water and towels, just the way the old Nun had instructed. Sister Magdalene was also instructed not to look at Father John's nakedness if she could help it, do whatever he told her to do, and pray.

The next morning, the old Nun asked Sister Magdalene how the Saturday night bath had gone.

"Well, when Father John was soaking in the tub, he asked me to wash him and, while I was washing him, he guided my hand down between his legs where he said the Lord keeps the 'Key to Heaven'."

"Did he now ?" said the old Nun evenly.

Sister Magdalene continued, "And Father John said that if the 'Key to Heaven' fitted my lock, the portals of Heaven would be opened to me and I would be assured salvation and eternal peace. And then FatherJohn guided his 'Key to Heaven' into my lock !!"

"Is that a fact ?" said the old Nun, even more evenly.

"At first, it hurt terribly, but Father John said the pathway to salvation was often painful and that the glory of God would soon swell my heart with ecstasy. And it did - it felt so good being saved !!"

"That wicked old bastard," said the old Nun. "He told me it was Gabriel's Horn, and I've been blowing it for 40 years !!"

I'm not focusing on anything, it was just one part of what I've been saying ....... in fact you're the one who's focussing on it.

I was simply pointing out where you were wrong on a specific claim you'd made, which you were.

I'm not really sure what your argument is tbh, you haven't made that clear.

You appear to want people to 'stop bashing religion' whereas most people seem to feel they have the right to comment.

I once lived on a street with Seventh Day Adventists at the bottom of the street and Jehovahs Witnesses at the top.

Any new recruits would be sent along our street to 'practice their technique'.

When I'd had enough of being woken up on Sunday mornings I instigated my counter offensive.

I'd get out of bed with a T shirt on, and nowt else, to answer the door.

Sometimes they wouldn't notice at first and would start off with their 'Do you believe mankind has the answer blah blah blah .... '
When their eyes eventually came to rest on my hairy bollocks their desire to 'save me' would suddenly & mysteriously evaporate and they'd turn on their heels <laugh>
