Bill Treacher, who played Arthur Fowler in EastEnders, has died at the age of 92.

He was one of the BBC soap's original cast members and appeared from 1985 until 1996.

Mr Treacher died late on Saturday night after suffering declining health for some time, his family said.

Dan McCafferty, one of the founding members of Scottish hard rock group Nazareth, has died at the age of 76.

Born in Dunfermline, the star was known for his raspy vocals on 70s rock classics such as Broken Down Angel, Hair Of The Dog and Love Hurts.

He remained with the band until 2014, when he developed a lung condition that made it hard to breathe and was forced to retire.

His death was confirmed by Nazareth bassist Pete Agnew. No cause was given.

"This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make," Agnew wrote on Instagram.

"Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Too upset to say anything more at this time."

Really liked Nazareth , bought one of my first 45’s of theirs ‘ This flight tonight’ great track and b side I think is Love Hurts ( not their best )

Saw them mid 80s at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, Nazareth, Quo, Marillion, Jason & The Scorchers (great live band most have never heard of) + one other; Quo were as brilliant as ever but Nazareth weren't far behind - RIP Dan, despite all the years, I remember you well.

If the other side is "Love Hurts" its a double-A side reissue. The original release had "Called My Name" on the flip side.

Dan was a terrific vocalist. would have been a much better replacement for Bon Scott in AC/DC than Brian Johnson (he was considered at the time, I believe)
