I have just had an email from Majestic Wine saying they are staying open as they are an essential retailer

I think it's quite good. We don't know or can't see each other so it builds a personality & character behind the keyboard of our fellow members, young, older & with many different viewpoints...
If you find it boring, scroll on!! :emoticon-0127-lipss:emoticon-0103-cool:
I do ............…. CERTAINLY shows what is behind the keyboard. I was always taught that the first to shout in a difference of opinions was the loser ….. once I saw who the winner was stopped reading it [ cursory glance to see whether anything new … then get on with something else ]

I find this comment incredibly ironic when on his own thread - 'Wipe The Slate Clean' - he's been basically talking to himself since July 23rd.
just put up odd bits of info not at all fussed about peeps contributing, and most certainly not pissed off...:emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl:

Not opposing views at all. It's just a group of independent scientists, nothing to do with being anti-government. All they did was urge them to lockdown time and time again in September. Just a tad too late.

And then you have this, well worth a watch.

For me this is why we are where we are, the government is being bombarded by advice, not all of these experts can be right, this 'expert' claims that the 3 tier system was working and the data used for lockdown is 3 weeks out of date, the points that he makes seem valid.

Well worth a look see.

And yet even on opposing sides of the argument I'd argue that I stand in the same way on 90% of that. I'm sure most of us would. The post is a bit of a sidetrack really but not one that anyone would really disagree with.

Back on topic anyways, I see Mr Farage is back with Reform UK, and SAGE have said that if we'd locked down in September as advised then it'd have saved 'thousands' of lives. So frustrating.

The tiered system could be justified. Sage is scientific groups (sub) not one entity. The groups within it can have differing views. The tiered system according to these groups could be justified and ineffective depending on what group is referenced. .

Some people will always sit up and take notice if they are bombarded with high numbers and statistics without doing the research, believe everything they read and are told...and our media love a panic, it sells papers and promotes their establishments. The opposition parties, will do exactly the same.
We now find ourselves being totally controlled, dare I say, Chinese style........which IMO is more worrying than Covid itself!!

No matter how restrictive these measures feel, I think we are still some way off of China <laugh>.
Where you can go, whom you can see, where you can and can't spend your earnings (if you're lucky enough to still have an income) If you do spend, online is now the norm, Amazon a main player in that. Now let me think, where do most items come from???
Big brother everywhere you go, technology to be able to know everything about us.....Not quite China yet, but can be seen to be easily done.
Imagine if someone said to you last year, the position we find ourselves now, you would have laughed the same!!

Interesting, self 15 mins tests being introduced to Liverpool On Friday and if successful will be available to millions Across the country.. said to be a game changer!!
Should be an interesting couple of weeks!!

When you analyse the past 4 month's, you do a Duke of Wellington and look at the wide wide picture you can see that this country needs to be brought to heel. Funny thing was our Friday jitsu coffee morning meeting actually came to the conclusion we as a country were in melt down and needed to act ...with venom.
how can controlling things be more worrying than Covid ?
take Scotland where did the virus take off worse … the central belt … Glasgow worst and then spread right across. I have been in Glasgow in the early hours 3 -4 am and drunks and groups in mid week roam the streets also been other places same thing!
Go to Wales, up the valleys working mens clubs loads of pubs . town centres of Cardiff Newport past mid night cans and bottles a "welcome" companion... before lockdown everyone personally friendly after lockdown virus not much change …
Manchester A mayor who made out the virus was not as bad as .gov said but Monday night there was a state of emergency called as no hospitals had space and ambulances were over run ….
we really do need controlling ..as no one respects [ that is a lot of us, not those that respect SD ETC] THE NEED TO BE CARING for our fellow humans

You've put me fair and square in my hole then, as a teenager and onwards I've have been out celebrating in all sorts of stadia, dance halls, musical concerts, discos, jazz clubs, with all types, through the days and nights, with all types of human company, thoroughly pissed, dancing and prancing, the people never blamed me or my circle with spreading Diptheria, TB, Polio, Asian Flu, Mad Cow Disease,Meningitis, we enjoyed life to the full, we lived the times with the bugs, developed vacinations that protected us.

It's a deadly killer, we are learning how to deal with it, vaccines and drugs are coming to cure it and life will move on and I hope all of us with it.

Well I disagree, there will always be a few that think they can do what they like and that goes for anything..you will never stop that. But most people do not need to be controlled....most people adhere to what's been said and apply common sense.
As I see it, this lockdown is precautionary, much data showing respiratory issues repetitively normal for this time of year and if it was that "out of control" schools & Uni's would also locked down.....
We do not need to be controlled to whom we see, where we go, what and how we purchase things.....it's a farce

Spot on Wiz, can't remember any lockdowns with all the other diseases around, even though the hospitals were full to the brim......when have they never been full?

in the summer, but for the wrong reasons …. anticipation of a second spike delayed everyday ops

you are to a degree misguided in your belief it is a farcer!! or right ..[ precautionary? well a somewhat misplaced and weak descriptive word! ]
you state we should do very little, [your belief is it is a precautionary measure and a farce and people do not like being involved with a farce? ] well I would ask myself the question
what would happen should we fail to do anything?, …. my answer would likely be widespread chaos in the NHS and a continuing upward trend of death and suffering.
what means are the likely causes of the virus spread? …. my answer would be transference between hosts and victims
How would you stop the transference? ...........answer would be eliminate virus paths of transference
has this been tried and if so why has it not been successful? ............answer YES but an awful high percentage of the population don't see it necessary to take heed of the recommended actions
SO how might that be remedied? …. answer ENFORCE ACTIONS that lead to everyone reading from the same hymn sheet, a sad but necessary course of action, brought on by selfish actions of those in the past and at present.
WILL that stop it spreading … answer NO, but will reduce the major catastrophe that awaits us should we fail to take precautions against a runaway spread and will hopefully anoint those past offenders with the reality of the need to comply.

You CANNOT Compare covid to any other respiratory disease, it is a unique rampant hostile that constantly evolves .. unfortunately it hinders the well being of people who may or not be affected by milder respiratory diseases greatest % o f death's
for reasons not yet understood by the same scientists you "blame" for this "precautionary" lockdown peeps under say 21 are far less affected when they contract it, and for some reason do not seem to pass it on as readily as older peeps …..

no idea where the strike throughs come from
I did read most of it mate, me & you have very different views about all of this.. in my opinion we had 2 options.. if it is as bad as they say, we do a proper full lockdown, schools, uni’s, work places (except essential suppliers) and construction sites (not a clue why they were exempt in the first wave).
Or we shield the vulnerable and over 70s and get on with it.
What we are doing now is on predictions from mixed data.. we have higher cases because we are testing more and those with the highest cases have levelled out.. so we’ve gone from a tier 2 and 3 levels that is working to lockdown and control of our lives Because of the scaremongering that we could hit 4000 deaths a day..
we’ve had overstretched hospitals most years without lockdown and the devastation that it brings.. it is a farce IMO.

I don't think we differ that much BOTH likely to have "obeyed" most guidelines and "the rules[ law/s ]" as they have been cast upon us! I have 4 very distinct group of friends 1 in Scotland and 3 in this part of the country we all have the same interests [ Tuesday/Weds & Sun /Thurs and when of course I go NW / north of Loch Ness!. ……….. other than 1 person of the 23 down here all have been observant!
I think we differ by interpretation, I have a much wider social circle than the above excluding family, and contacts with in various sciences. Also like yourself? at least 3 family in hospital jobs. Figures and formula's have always been an interest, and basically that is what COVID is, an enigma that is measured with facts and figures.
in our groups we have a saying "it only takes 1", that applies not just a person but an error of judgement … like failing 1 time when unknowingly handling something infected by a carrier, or getting to close etc and failing self protection like washing hands or sanitising … Stockwood has 27 cases I am told, SURROUNDING AREAS bordering Stockwood, like where Angelic or BCFCRob reside have 118 so I am middle of known 145 infected ……….. and I do not know of 1 and my wife works in a very large care home complex!
