Ah yes of course. The oldest tactic of the boomer - complain about the totally imaginary 'snowflake generation', wilfully ignorant of the fact that they themselves are the perpetually offended, always up in arms when someone isn't forced to wear a poppy (love that irony by the way), crying over the lack of lyrics to a song they like at the proms, ****ting themselves when they don't like a dance on a talent show, the list goes on. You even demonstrated it there by turning a non-Corbyn post into a whinge about him. He lives rent free in your heads. The real snowflake generation. <laugh>

Software bungle meant NHS Covid app failed to warn users to self-isolate

The “world-beating” NHS Covid app, downloaded by 19 million people, has systematically failed to send alerts telling people to self-isolate after they came into contact with infected people.

    https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...ailed-to-warn-users-to-self-isolate-6tzstqnr9

This has undoubtedly cost actual lives.

Let me guess guys. Another mistake that should be forgiven because it's a pandemic and unprecedented, etc, etc, etc?

All throughout lockdown since March, they’ve said young adults and kids are not at risk. As Onefor says they are on mixed messages thinking they are ok and not a threat. And here we are to lockdown 2 they are being told to carry on in school and Uni’s.
Not blaming any political party as no one has dealt with this. People comparing it to wars and terror attacks are way off as you are reacting to something. There was no rehearsal for this.

It's a good point on schools - I'll be honest in that I had it totally wrong for a while, I thought I'd read that children didn't really spread the disease and I went with that for quite a long time. It's always a tricky one but schools are priority number 1 - there is a critical period I'm sure where kids need to get their basic knowledge in, so that has to be top of the list. But universities, as frustrating as it is for many, is more optional. You can go back to it if need be, and those in uni are probably far more well-placed for remote learning than infants of course.

As far as I know most lectures are being done online now anyway. It was totally unnecessary to get students into halls in September, spreading the virus all over the place in the process. But as we all know, if they hadn't, lots of commercial landlords would have lost out on millions in rent. I suspect that's one of the reasons too.

Police officer left with broken leg in assault at illegal rave near Bristol

I might be a member of the boomer generation but I certainly wouldn't go out and wreck a warehouse celebrating my freedom issues or beat up and break a coppers leg for trying to keep order, it's disgusting, by all means take a sarcastic swipe at us but wearing a poppy remembering what our parents and grandparents went through to preserve our freedoms, being proud of our historical traditions is something I do with pride.

Listening to some expert a couple of days ago, it turns out that secondary school pupils are the worst for spreading the virus..(Much higher than hospitality) With Uni's most are contained within halls etc, where as over 11 - 16 year olds socialise within school and so can bring it home to spread amongst family..

You really need to grow up.

You picked up one throwaway line and claimed the whole post to be a rant about one man, (which it is not, I will refrain from calling you a liar) a man who is totally in denial over this particular issue a man who with his army of supporters and their crowd fund, look as though they are prepared to bankrupt the labour party.

Now let me give you some facts about the rest of your ****.

    1. I choose to wear a poppy, I don't give a flying f*** whether others do or don't, unless people publicly disrespect my choice. I wear one because my paternal grandfather and his brother lied about their age to travel from the other side of the world in Australia to fight for others in WW1, man who saw the horror of Gallipoli and then in the trenches at Mons, a man that knew that any sign of weakness could have ended with a firing squad of his own side. Also my maternal grandfather who fought in North Africa in WW2 and never got home for 4 years, having left his wife and young daughter and my wifes father who also fought in North Africa during WW2.

    2. Any argument about the BBC over the proms for me was the their decision was purely political. It seems that somehow younger generations have no concept of democracy.

    3. I don't watch and would never watch a TV talent show, I never watched the dance, never commented on it, for me it's just another programme that masquerades as entertainment.

    4. It was a throwaway line FFS, I am just fed up with people who hate the UK so much and people who are quite happy to slag off people who MAY have voted differently to them, calling them racist and stupid, it's about time that the people who actually rejected Corbyn's labour were asked why they abandoned their lifelong labour voting tendency, the hundreds of thousands of labours great northern red wall, the party is in denial and so are the people who seem to want revise our history and be anti democratic.

You use a sweeping term in boomer but dismiss snowflake. The frequency of your attacks on others, where you post lies and abuse indicates it yourself that is perpetually offended.

    Your post:
    • People are not forced to wear a poppy.
    • Crying over the lack of lyrics to a song they like at the proms .. Who? Anybody? Nuance of views?
    • ****ting themselves when they don't like a dance on a talent show .. Who? Anybody? Nuance?
Your post lacks critical thinking again.

Got quite the nibble there didn't we guys.

I'm not saying all boomers are bad, they're obviously not, and conversely, plenty of younger people are silly tw@ts too. The post was partially over-inflated for effect, but don't go dishing out the snowflake comments if you (quite clearly) can't handle it back :emoticon-0148-yes:.

And yes, wiz is spot on, those at that warehouse rave in Yate are utter, utter bellends. Letting it down for the rest of us, of all ages, who are behaving appropriately.

And you're quite right to wear a poppy. If you think I'm saying otherwise then you're either misunderstanding my post or willingly twisting it.

Ah I see, I hadn't realised that. Secondary schools are probably the most tricky in that respect I guess - infants need to be in school, those at uni don't need to be at uni to learn, but secondary school age is a bit of both really.

I'm sorry I think you will find that the popular opinion is that it's you are the one who cannot take it.

There seems to be a modern day need to label everybody and it seems to me if you disagree with anybody who leans to the left on anything then you must be a tory and that frankly is beyond pathetic.

But for the last time I will tell you exactly where I stand.

I am not and have never been a member of any political party and never would I be.

I have voted in 2 general elections, both times tory once in 1979 for Thatcher because I was pissed off with a country continually being held to ransom by unions and secondly last December where again I voted tory because having just moved back to the country from 16 years in France I didn't want to live in a country run by Corbyn and his cronies. The reason that I never voted before or after 1979 (until last year) was because to be honest they were all a useless steaming self serving bunch of tossers. I never voted in the Brexit vote because I lived in France.

I believe in democracy, where the majority decide and not where the losers try to change democracy with violence and intimidation or revisionism.

I believe in the rule of the law and totally without fear and favour.

I believe that naturalisation to become a UK citizen should be earned and cherished and not given out as a right to anybody who a) abuses that right or b) because parasite human rights lawyers are allowed to use the act for actions is was never designed for, like ensuring that dangerous criminals who were illegal immigrants when they committed their crimes are not allowed to stay in our country for any reason. If you truly want to be a UK citizen do not commit serious crime, it's that simple. The human rights act should be for victims as well.

I also believe that teachers of any kind whatsoever, should be banned from politically grooming children towards their own political leanings, whatever they might be, just stick to the curriculum.

I also believe that in no time in my life have I been so disillusioned by the quality of our politicians on all sides, something that crept in from the 1990's onwards, I find most of the 650 who rule us to be self serving, greedy, arrogant, evasive, LIARS, out of touch with reality, tribal and with far too many anomalies/skeletons in the cupboard to be viable. I am sure others will add to my list.

So in short don't break the law of the land and be respectful.

And yet even on opposing sides of the argument I'd argue that I stand in the same way on 90% of that. I'm sure most of us would. The post is a bit of a sidetrack really but not one that anyone would really disagree with.

Back on topic anyways, I see Mr Farage is back with Reform UK, and SAGE have said that if we'd locked down in September as advised then it'd have saved 'thousands' of lives. So frustrating.

1000s of what lives? Scaremongering again I'm afraid......Should have could have, too early, too late..views from the right, opposite views from the left....
Apparently Liverpool & North west are levelling out with the tier measures inflicted by the government.....
Excess pressure & panic has caused Boris to inflict this stupid lockdown (partial IMO) which will only kerb the numbers temporarily but will of course increase again once we come out.....Testing will show another increase in cases and a vaccine, even if found will take months to become available..

Not opposing views at all. It's just a group of independent scientists, nothing to do with being anti-government. All they did was urge them to lockdown time and time again in September. Just a tad too late.

The problem is not everybody can be correct can they and the advice always seems to be different on a daily basis, from everybody from the WHO, to governments, to sage, to medical advisors and experts who seem to have differing views.

Going back to your point some time ago about figures, the WHO said from the outset not to add people who died within in a week of testing positive for covid, but that was not the cause of death, but the ONS who collate those figures ignored that, possibly on the advice of government.

Who knows? seems to be where we are here IMHO.

PS:- Nigel Farage is an attention seeker.

Of course when we come out of lockdown, there will be the predictable views, if we come out too early, causing more deaths or too late, causing more jobs lost or businesses going under....what ever is decided, those on the left will say it's wrong and those on the right will back it...
Now talk about scaremongering.. Keir Starmer has just said in the commons that this "virus is out of control".....is it? The report I read the other day, that the hospitals are much better equipped, much better drugs to treat and very few patients requiring ventilators to control breathing... I've not seen anywhere that it's out of control..

I find this comment incredibly ironic when on his own thread - 'Wipe The Slate Clean' - he's been basically talking to himself since July 23rd.
