It was always going to be hard replacing Rice. I don't mind McTominay he'll do OK there especially the way Moyes plays
Maybe I'm being harsh because he's at Man Utd, he's not good enough for them if they want to try and get anywhere near City. There was talk of the fee being about 40m for himbut I suppose that's because utd know West ham have it to spend. Maguire needs to move on ASAP.
Not really a McTominay fan as I think he is over rated but I have friends who believe he is excellent so I guess he is just one of them players who divides opinion
McTominay is a very decent player just gets bad rap as he’s not what we see as a Man United player. Maguire remains a decent CB and the witch-hunt has been crazy, he was always slow. Very good business for West Ham. You can’t replace Rice as such, he was a player far above their level they did well to keep so long cos he loved the club.
I actually think it's a good transfer for every party involved, both clubs and the respective players.
Can't believe Phil Parkinson has gone and signed James McClean on a free from Wigan. Until they were amalgamated with another regiment in 2006, Wrexham was the Garrison home of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. My grandfather was born in Hightown Barracks and served in the RWF as a boy from 1904 and was one of the old contemptibles, invalided back to blighty and then only fit for garrison service so was trained to drive supply trucks. The Royal Welsh [D Company (Wrexham) Det 3rd Battalion] still have a base in Wrexham. We often have soldiers present as guards and in official presentations - how are they going to like us having a pro-ira, anti british army player in the team?!
I like McTominay, he told my pal to get lost a couple of months ago! He was in a hotel ,Glasgow way at some conference, with clients that involved drinking from mid afternoon. Mate and his pal were talking ****e wandering about later on. Ended up lost and having a conversation in a doorway. McTominay came up to them and said "lads we're trying to have a meeting here, the toilet's that way, get lost!" Pal looks in the room and Scotland squad all there in advance of a match looking angry and disappointed. Seems a straightforward lad
A Hartlepool fan at work is hating all this Wrexham stuff. I didn’t know that Reynolds and McElhenney wanted to buy Hartlepool for £500K but the owner wanted £1 million so they walked away. Their owner has since dropped his price to £500K ! All this stuff about Wrexham being a traditional club that’s fallen on hard times and being a working class area equally applies to them. It makes me think how lucky we are that Donald and co failed to **** up selling to KLD. He’s been massive for the club and the city.
Parkinson is too dull to know or understand any of that. McLean is just a simple, miss-guided bigot who will take money from anyone.
Considering that they paid £2 million for Wrexham, I doubt that it was a £1 million price tag that made them turn down Hartlepool. As far as I knew they looked at Hartlepool but didn't go with them as there was no real story there. The basic idea involved the behind the scenes show raising some of the investment money needed as well as growing an international fan base that would also increase shirt & merchandising sales. Here is what 4-4-2 magazine said; "Ker established a set of criteria, among them facilities, fanbase, history and finance. Wrexham scored highest, with 38 marks out of 50. The scoring mechanism also included a column for ‘narrative’. And boy do Wrexham have a story to tell. The fifth-tier club’s arduous climb back from the brink features covert recordings, gagging orders, court hearings, convicted criminals, a producer of ‘adult films’ " https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/wrexham-owners-ryan-reynolds-and-rob-mcelhenney-national-league
See Burnley have ‘increased their bid to £12million’ for Jacob Ramsey from Villa. One of the highest rated young CM in the country with a bunch of PL games already. They have no intention of buying anyone of any standard they just trying to look busy. Its Mike Ashley tactics.
It definitely says Jacob, but could be a mistake and that would make sense. Surely there’s no way they think Jacob was plausible for that money.
