Strangely I can see something in this as Nigel in previous recent interviews keeps talking about the importance of Crosby. I wondered if this was the motive?
From back in March... David Burns @bbcburnsy "For me Andy Crosby is more important for this football club than any player they're going to go and sign." Nigel Adkins @HullCity to @HumbersideSport on his assistant. He won't say if Crosby has been offered a new deal but he would have to be for Adkins to stay. #hcafc
Thought it had been obvious for weeks that this was the reason! (Either no or poor contract offer to Crosby).
As a TEAM Nige and Crosby have worked wonders this season, they TOGETHER have done exceptionally well considering all the circumstances, if its not broken why fix it, even if budget constraints suggest otherwise! Offering Nige only a contract (if that is the case?) is just the same as saying we are not bothered either way, in which case it may just be the Allams setting out to claim that they offered Nige a contract but he decided not to stay! Another example of the Allams at face value creating a false picture so they can effectively say to their pal Sutcliffe at the Yorkshire Post, we tried our best and made an offer, it was Nige who decided not to stay. Oh and add to that the timing, at a key point in the season, absolutely barmy. That all said, I't may well be the Allams way of getting Nige to have one less player in his squad next season to cover Crosbys cost? Either way at face value another mess!
It's absolutely pathetic that so often, Ehab-run Hull City seeks to get rid of people that they appointed themselves. There's no rhyme or reason to it, it's just another sign of what a weak and inept man Ehab Allam is. There's no plan, no overall philosophy, his only idea is to get rid of people. Then get rid of their replacement a year later.

Ehab was put in charge by Assem, who is old & in ill health to run the club on a daily basis.Saying that I doubt he can order a box of paperclips without his dad signing it off first. Both of them are completely clueless about how to run a football club (they run Hull City on the same business principles as Allam Marine) highlighted by the laughable offer they first made Steve Bruce to be manager. They probably offered him 40k a year & couldn't understand why he laughed at them & asked if they were serious (They probably had no clue who Bruce was & his past history). Assem will never sell the club whilst he can make easy millions every year on the interest from the loan. He's never had the slightest interest in Hull City all he wanted was the stadium & the land that surrounds it. He is not a Hull City fan, he is not even a football fan, he is a hard nosed businessman who saw an opportunity to make money & went for it.
I personally feel that Nigel will only stay if Crosby stays. If Crosby is offered a derisory figure, then the 2 of them may well walk, even if Nigel feels his offer is acceptable.
I may be wrong.... but every club in the Football League has a Manager and a second in command. So if Crosby leaves and Nigel stays, (won't happen) we would need a number 2 ... oh hang on, we already have a number 2...
Dear Ehab, rearrange the following words to make a famous phrase. Brewery in a organise couldn't up piss a.
When we appointed Nigel and his team, I think it's fair to say that they needed us more than we needed them. Given his previous failures, Nigel was a bit lucky to get a Championship job. The star of Adkins and Crosby is now on the rise again given the events of the past five months. If they have any sense they'll be wanting a pay cheque that reflects this. We all know what happens when people ask for more money from Ehab, however... Steve McClaren would come cheap in the summer, by the way, and is unlikely to bother the boardrooms of anyone else at Championship level.
If there is no offer on the table for Crosby then Nigel will walk. There are many teams that would take a punt on them now. Although many, myself included, found his positivity talks gut churning anyone would have to admit he has done a great job. The Allams have a track record of thinking you can run a football club with no backroom staff and try it on with all managers. Who would blame Nige if he walks. Not me.
He would get as far as 'couldn't piss in a brewery' as he wouldn't recognise or understand the word 'organise'!
