I don't know why, but when I saw the price tag I just went "oh dear."
For all we know this lad could be a one-hit-wonder in Germany. Sure other clubs are after him but if he was that good; wouldn't other clubs over here be after him? I hope to god this lad is a success at City if/when he signs for us; because he is just what we need to partner Matty Fryatt upfront, but I'm pessimistic.
Then you must have a glass half empty approach to life. When it's a complete unknown as to how a new signing may do then surely you should be excited and optimistic until proven otherwise?
Any new signing is a gamble and especially a striker who can potentially score lots of goals at this level, are going to cost a fair dollop, even if it's not proven he will succeed.
One thing for certain is that any striker that is proven at our level, and not past his best, is going to cost a hell of a lot more, and any well known striker we get on a free or for a small transfer fee isn't going to set the world on fire.
Well it seems we have saved up to £750,000 by not going for Mannone (allowing for the £250,000 on Amos).
O/T. I'm also quite curious about that fee paid for Amos. I don't remember seeing any other examples of 'loan fees' in the past. I wonder whether it could be some sort of down-payment giving us an option to sign him next season.
Not at all. As I said I hope that he is successful because he is exactly what we need! I'm also excited that we are FINALLY spending some money, but for someone we've never heard of it does slightly worry me. If he does well in pre-season and the first few games then that'll help show he's worth the money.
Had you heard of Figueroa, Valencia or Rodallega before they signed for Wigan?
Lol westhulltiger. I just used that exact same argument against you yesterday earlier in this thread when you said you weren't bothered whether we signed him or not as you hadn't heard of him. Changed your position?![]()
We paid a big loan fee for Gulacsi last season.
That was worth it then...
Well, this time It's made Paderborn's local, which I don't think it did over the Fürth move. Not much more than a rehash of the Mail's article, but still...

The season before last he was playing in the Europa League and scored 22 in 29 games in the Swiss top flight.
I realise the Swiss league is hardly the best league in the world, but that's an impressive strike rate in any league, he obviously knows where the goal is and isn't a one season wonder.
