I don't know why, but when I saw the price tag I just went "oh dear." For all we know this lad could be a one-hit-wonder in Germany. Sure other clubs are after him but if he was that good; wouldn't other clubs over here be after him? I hope to god this lad is a success at City if/when he signs for us; because he is just what we need to partner Matty Fryatt upfront, but I'm pessimistic.
The season before last he was playing in the Europa League and scored 22 in 29 games in the Swiss top flight. I realise the Swiss league is hardly the best league in the world, but that's an impressive strike rate in any league, he obviously knows where the goal is and isn't a one season wonder.
Then you must have a glass half empty approach to life. When it's a complete unknown as to how a new signing may do then surely you should be excited and optimistic until proven otherwise? Any new signing is a gamble and especially a striker who can potentially score lots of goals at this level, are going to cost a fair dollop, even if it's not proven he will succeed. One thing for certain is that any striker that is proven at our level, and not past his best, is going to cost a hell of a lot more, and any well known striker we get on a free or for a small transfer fee isn't going to set the world on fire.
Not at all. As I said I hope that he is successful because he is exactly what we need! I'm also excited that we are FINALLY spending some money, but for someone we've never heard of it does slightly worry me. If he does well in pre-season and the first few games then that'll help show he's worth the money.
Lol westhulltiger. I just used that exact same argument against you yesterday earlier in this thread when you said you weren't bothered whether we signed him or not as you hadn't heard of him. Changed your position?
I've not changed my position in terms of being bothered if we sign him or not as I still haven't seen him play live so i dont have an opinion on his ability. I was using the Wigan signings as an example of money and that 2 million for a striker is not mega bucks these days
Well, this time It's made Paderborn's local, which I don't think it did over the Fürth move. Not much more than a rehash of the Mail's article, but still... http://www.nw-news.de/sport/sc_paderborn_07/6874414_Proschwitz_verhandelt_mit_Hull_City.html
In the comments under that article, one person says he expects he will earn five times his current wage if he comes to us. I think that might be a tad optimistic.
Wasn't sure if that was optimism about the wages he'd get here or a criticism of the 2. Bundesliga wages!
Bruce will have to be at his most persuasive to pull this deal off. The player's agent sounds very cautious about the meeting, almost as if it's only an exploratory thing on their side. It's one thing for a player to go to a club he's not sure about and another to go to another country.
I seem to remember once before, I think during the January window, that the Allam's weren't the biggest fans of agents. This could be a good deal for the player but not the agent.
From @PJBuckingham Proschwitz is here at #hcafc's team base. Bruce: "Everything has been positive with him at the moment. We're hoping we can tie up a deal." and Club to club seen to be a "little way off" on the valuation at present. The fact he's here suggests those details can be overcome.
We have just paid £1 million for Jamie Vardy and I'm quite excited about that - an unknown quantity with, at this point, wonderful potential ... but he could flop £2 million for a player of Prostrateitch's experience and goalscoring record is not a major gamble - you would undoubtedly recoup half of that selling him back to the continent if he bombs .... on the other hand, if he translates his Swiss scoring record to the Championshio he could either fire you to promotion or at least enable you to sell him on for 5x what you have paid ... have some faith ... £35 million for Andy Carroll, £20 million for RobbieKeane, £20 million for aquilani and £22 million for Jordan Henderson fit my definition of 'reckless spending' ... step forward Liverpool FC ...
