The problem, for me, is that I can see Parkinson accepting a contract until the summer and using the existing staff.

If that happens Donald will see his support plummet.

Would this not be something of a positive? If he gets a long term contract I'll be worried, but until the end of the season with no changes to staff might suggest they want someone who doesn't want to massively change the style of play but do it more effectively and who, crucially, won't cost anything to get rid of should investors come in and want their own man. From a takeover perspective it sounds fairly positive, whereas Pearson and staff for 3 years, or Stendel long term trying to change the style of play sounds like something harder to get in place then change if and when investment is signed off. I think Parkinson could have a good go at getting us up this season, I just think he's an uninspiring longer term option, if it's just for this season whilst investment comes in then I'd be happy

Stewie will end up liking Parky and won't be able to fire him.

I think there would be a mad dip in crowd if we went for him. Counter productive imho

Most will hold their breath and give a few game to see what he can do - as they should.

I'm certainly not expecting much from him but would be over the moon if he proved that wrong, of course..

It's gonna be short leash tho... If there is no bounce and play looks the same or worse 4 or 5 games in... and we've strung losses and draws together, there will be no honeymoon with Parkinson. Not sure stu understands that or what hIring a yes man on the cheap means now if things go wrong (I.e. Stu will get the dog's abuse.)

This is a suspect hire from the get-go and will be perceived as such.

A fair assumption mate but then surely if the takeover was progressed enough we wouldn't have to wait til next summer ?

Obviously we are all assuming things, I'm wondering whether Stendel getting pìssed with the fans dented his professionalism in the eyes of potential employers for instance.

Parkinson isn't my first choice and i would find that appointment uninspiring to be honest, but who knows ? I won't write him off until I've seen fair indication from results if he does come.

But it does point to, along with SD sacking Ross and leaving Twitter,
Some bad news concerning the takeover/investment debacle imo.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

I didn't say that it did alter your argument. He certainly came to Hartlepool as a full back and was played there during his time at Pools.
So you agree he did play some of his career at CB ( and midfield allegedly ).
The crux of my argument that as a defender ( cb) one would think his actions and efforts would match his words.
They never did

Really ..what else might we expect from the people that brought us ross?
More of the bleeding same was always on the cards sadly.
Please please I hope this is wrong

I'm just choosing to be positive mate.

Maybe investment is very likely but they don't know when it can be finalised, they won't be able to offer anything long term to an agreed candidate because they won't come in without the investment guaranteed, so they get a stop gap who they think can do the job this season and then move on.

In terms of the other stuff (again, nowt itk just trying to think positively)

Ross goes because we need to go up, we can't afford to make any major moves until the investment is confirmed but equally we can't allow this season to drift, Donald decides (maybe with prompting from investors) that the best bet is to take the small hit on sacking Ross and making a change, thinking Parkinson is more likely to get results than Ross

Donald leaves Twitter because he doesn't like getting abuse and knows that he'll get absolutely loads when he announces Parkinson, even though it is being done in order to help facilitate the investment (rather than getting long term appointments who would be expensive to sack)

If it's a deal until the end of the season initially I'll be fairly confident in the above. If it's longer than that then my theory is **** and I'm gutted!

Wasn't having a go mate just giving a counter scenario.

I prefer the positive though

The highs of the possible takeover to the lows of the thought it could be off isn't great but hopefully something good will come out soon.

I just cant see parkinson going for a part season deal.
If he does fair play. It's a measure of his self belief I suppose.
