ffs lads, no one wanted parky, no one wanted ross, no one wanted neil...i could go on but what the hell is the point, some have already made their minds up mainly down to a couple of throw away comments from years ago and the fact that mowbray does not run around grinning like the cheshire cat while doing cartwheels down the touchline.

the man knows the league (how many times was that banded about when we were looking for managers in league one..'has to know the league like') has done well with a very limited budget on more than one occasion, apparently likes to bring the youth on and prefers an attack minded style of play, has contacts going back many years, exactly what we need right now to establish ourselves in this league..it is not as if we were haring towards promotion despite our decent start.
Post of the month contender there mate ...

... you'll get my vote when the poll is posted <laugh>

1 vote it is then <cheers>

It sounds like the club have knew about AN looking elsewhere and had this lined up ready? We have moved quick for him to be at the AOL on Saturday morning.

If it was known AN was touting himself out could that be a reason why he didn't get offered the deal he felt he deserved? The club knew he wanted to away?
Aye **** the Oompa Loompa

Personally I would’ve liked Manning because even though it’s a gamble, it’s the unknown. If you have a watch/read into his coaching work you can’t not be impressed - the CV video for example. It could’ve been a long term progressive project. He’ll be managing at the highest level of football one day without a shadow of doubt.

With Mowbray I think he’ll only be able to take us so far, but is definitely capable of getting us promoted from the championship if given the backing in the transfer market.

Mowbray will take us to the next level in our progression. I am confident of that. I base that on his achievements to date, the style his teams play, and his ability to really develop young players. Nobody should underestimate his contacts and his reputation in the game. We will see a more attractive style of football than Neil produced, and we will see a more savvy touchline operator when it comes to seeing the game out. He wont be troubled by the size of the club, or the passion of the area, and he certainly wont be fussed if a handful of people dislike his Boro connections. He has far more experience in the game than the last few managers have and that will be a boost across all elements of our club. He will be a great pair of eyes and ears for KLD and Speakman etc to bounce off.

You don't know if he will do well or not. But neither do the fookers claiming he won't.

But I prefer your version :emoticon-0148-yes:
If he does well, great. We all want that.
If he fails, IF... can I just say to all those in advance that will say "I told you so"

FUCK OFF :emoticon-0173-middl :emoticon-0136-giggl

I don’t fully agree that Manning would be a major risk. He’s managed nearly 100 games across two clubs so not coming direct from coaching. You can also clearly see he set MK Dons up well. They were defensively solid and structured as well as good going forward. No reason to believe he couldn’t do that with our squad.
My only concern with Manning would be the personality fit. He’s not as bad as Johnson for coach speak but does like to use some of the terminology. SAFC fans tend to respond better to more direct personalities such as Neill, Allardyce, Reid etc.

I’m not fuming at the thought of Mowbray. Definitely not comparable with appointing Parkinson. I can see why it makes sense, I’m also aware my slightly negative view of him is influenced by the fact I think he’s an absolute tool, which has no bearing on his ability.
Manning will stay on the watchlist for Sunderland. One or two others on it as well by all accounts.

Talked myself in to thinking Grayson might do something, did the same with Parkinson and will do the same with Mowbray. Just hope it doesn’t turn out the same way.

Why can’t we have anything nice man

<laugh> Of course I dont, just trying to be positive based on his record. Those saying he wont seem mainly to be basing it on his appearance, personality, or being a Boro lad. Personally reckon a look at his achievements is a better guage than how he looks, sounds or supports. Might be wrong like <laugh><laugh>
