You couldn't listen to the RH match commentary online, unless you paid for it. No Viking 2 aren't on FM but they're clearly playing Viking (1) on app systems during a match.

I'm not talking about Tigers Player or whatever. That's never been of interest to me. RH have a listen online option and they used to regularly say City were on FM, Scunny on AM and Grimsby on Digital and online.

With RH you could listen online. From what people are saying it sounds lke Viking assume if you're on the Internet you're not local. That's the difference.

Frankly I can't believe that more than a dozen or so people from outside the area seriously want to listen to local radio coverage of a Hull City match anyway.

And they're not on FM either are they? I'm sure I tried that at the weekend and it was only on AM.

I could never listen to RH online (because it was a local broadcast). That's why dazed got in trouble for streaming his local radio feed to people outside the region.

You couldn't get City on RH online. You couldn't get the outside the .FM area. The broadcasting rights conditions haven't changed.

I was never once able to listen to City online on RH, and I don't think anyone else did unless they subscribed to Tigers Player, because it wasn't possible.

Who do you pay though? I thought it was City?

Viking are broadcasting it for free on certain frequencies but not others. It's not like it's exclusive content. RH would have one of the local commentaries on the DAB and online service so I don't get what's different.

There can't be that many people who are prepared to pay for a radio commentary.
RH didn't broadcast commentary online outside the area.

I recall KCFM doing match commentaries and being able to access it online when I lived in another part of the country. For some reason, it only had something like a 100 'places' and frustratingly you could lose your internet connection, then lose your 'spot' and not be able to listen to the match again.

This was about 10 years ago and I guess things have been tightened up since.

Why does everyone keep talking about outside the area when I keep saying I'm talking about inside the area. I live in Hull.

The fact City were almost always on FM on RH may mean we were never the online game, but they always had an online game if all three clubs were playing, and it was totally separate to any paid subscription service offered by a third party.

Viking don't broadcast commentaries on FM or online, you have only the option of an AM or a DAB radio to listen locally.

To listen online anywhere, you have to pay for Tigers TV and get the online feed from the club.

It's not as complicated as you're making it, it's just ****.

Because I listen from outside the area, and that is my area of knowledge. Chippy ****! :-)

This was my understanding.

It's pretty **** that they don't bother with FM and also **** that they won't do it online for people within the coverage area. Both of which RH did do for local games.

I thought the games were FM, AM or DAB. All of which would require you to be in broadcast range.

I'm sure an ex-Pat will be able to shed some light on whether they ever managed to listen to Hull City on the Radio Humberside website.

As I keep saying, RH always used to have one of the games, usually Grimsby, on DAB and online. I know that not through extensive research but because they would routinely say so. I thought it was common knowledge.
