Sometimes they’re No2 for a reason, Mike Phelan is one that immediately jumps to mind.
Also some people talk a really good game, great pundit, come across as someone that you’d expect to make a great manager, Gary Neville.

Took the kids to the open training the other day and it was noticeable how light we are on coaching staff for a team at Championship level. We had Dawson with one half of the squad (full coach gear: boots, bib, whistle, joining in drills). Pardo with the other half and Baz R with the young French keeper. We also had John Eyre around swinging crosses in for keepers - not sure it's the norm for the kitman to be that involved in training?

Pedro Martins aside, the list of candidates who you realistically would expect to be prepared to come here didn’t fill me with a huge amount of confidence if I’m honest.

Perhaps Chris Wilder, but I’m not sure he’s the right man for this job at this time.

For that reason, I’m more than happy with Rosie. He’s an interesting appointment, and I’m keen to see how it works out.

I'm sure Carvalhal was a balls up on our part, he left his club to come then we deicded to bail him off for Martins. Would much rather have him in then Rosey.

Yes.

For what it's worth I think it's a good appointment. Rosie knows the club, he knows the fans and he has a genuine link to our city. He's a former player, he captained us a few times too. He's going to care if we lose.

I think people are reading too much into "experience". Everybody has to start somewhere, there's no reason why his journey shouldn't start with a club he made the most appearances with in his entire career. He's been around football a long time, he's worked under some experienced heads and will have some decent connections in the game.

It's a good strategy in terms of fan morale, because I can't see too many City fans chanting "Rosie, sort it out" when times get tough, he's the kind of guy you want to do well.

To cap it all, he's humble, he puts the team first and I think he'll garner a lot of respect from the players, especially the home grown ones.

Good choice for me, really want this to work out for both us and him.

I think Neville could probably still end up being a good manager if he fancied it, everyone seems to write him off based on nothing more than a four month stint in Spain, which was an odd appointment all round.

As long as it isn’t like the one who designed those godawful, soulless places which litter a lot of our cities.

Personally I would hope for a Frank Lloyd Wright.

he’s desperate for a job so his agent and him has pushed the he loves hull city bollocks

The I love Hull stuff is definitely overplayed but I do think it has some value. He'll know what he's coming too better than any other person would so he'll likely settle quicker and better which can only help. Remember Slutsky photographed at Hull Fair by himself? Aside from results he must have had a dismal time in Hull which must have had some effect on his overall performance.

Still not sure Rosy's the right man though...

As opposed to a complete stranger who knows nothing of our club, history or city, you mean?

“His agent pushed the we love hull city bollocks”. Or, you could just listen to one of many interviews or media appearances where he talks about his love for the club.

I know you’re cynical and thats your style, but try not to sound like such a ****ing dipshit while doing it.

I mean to be fair, none of us are kidding ourselves that had he been offered the West Brom role (he was apparently interviewed for it) he'd not have taken it, rather than waited for us to get back to him etc.
