I don't like the idea of promoting Stockdale, what's the plan, to hope that whoever is hired as his number two knows how to sort the defence out? If he's who they pick then so be it. I feel we need a big character with a strong presence to drag us out of this situation but I'm fully prepared for nothing of the sort to happen.
By saying they aren’t interviewing that means the club know who it is, matter of time before bookies get wind so an odds tumble may well be an answer.
I can't believe we are going through this again. We are a complete embarrassment to English football and all because of one man, Ellis Short. The next appointment needs to one that will reignite the fans passion and enthusiasm in the way that Sam Allardice and Dick Advocat did. So who is it likely to be? We seem to like the idea of a hard nosed bruiser who won't take any crap from the playing staff, so would Nigel Pearson fit the bill? My heart says Big Sam, but my head says Mr Whoknows. All I ask is that it is an inspired appointment and not some low key, on the cheap no mark.
You know mate, it’s probably partially true. Ha. Joking aside this is a massive job and club, plenty would take the chance. We are at a point now that failing wouldn’t damage ‘it was Sunderland’. Flip side, if someone comes in and gets it right, they will be like some kind of second coming.
Oneill & Keano back? Don't think he'd ever come back - I too wish that he would but only if Short ensured of massive funds in January, which I doubt!!!
I don’t fancy him, dunno why. I don’t think he’d be keen either unless there was a wedge available for January.
Is there a logic that we won’t appoint anyone in case the takeover comes back on and they want their own guy?
A bankruptee taking on a bankrupt club. Cue the press headlines! You couldn't make this **** up! On a serious point, being a caretaker could mean just the 1 game though. No reason to get too agitated about that just yet.
I dont rate Karanka at all. Boro fans turned against him in the end due to him spitting his dummy out twice and walking out of the club leaving Agnew in charge until he'd calmed down and put it back in. He also clashed with the fans because after signing Rhodes for 10m he refused to play him and stuck to a negative 451 formation. Boro were voted most boring Premiership club of all time last season.
