A Legend, but lets leave it at that. He went to Plymouth in 2010 and had a bad time of it. Lasted a year and was sacked. IMO we need a similar but younger manager and to me Pearson and Phillips might do it. Passion, bite and, with Phillips, a Legend to bring the fire back into the Club.. Attacking football, professional attitude and a riddance of the drunken tw#ts that have plagued our club.......Just watched Pickford make a brilliant save, Bring him back as well. lol
Bri's point wasn't about bringing him back as manager mate. That would be a ridiculous idea. But bringing him back into the changing rooms and giving him some influence on the confidence and camaraderie on the squad, behind Higgingbottom who'd manage the squad has some appeal for me. And I was one a week ago who thought he'd be a bad idea with him and SKP. I don't think that would work.
Not sure there's any link between Higgingbottom and Reid but their certainly is with Cook and Phillips. Reid as number two to either I'd be happy with. But don't really want Reid as manager. I'd back him to the hilt like.
Where is everyone at with this now? Parker is wanting a tried and tested manager in the championship (Karanka - Lambert) whereas I think we've always done that and largely failed, I'm hoping we rather go down the route of an upcoming manager from league 1, or a foreign manager who can come in with fresh ideas. What about you guys, which would you rather?
Agreed, I was just pointing out that he hasn't really been involved in the game since 2010 and that didn't go well for him. He is best left out of this as he might go and deck Short........then again!
I either want someone fresh to give us new life or Pearson who I think would sort us out without any problems. All the other experienced managers mentioned don't appeal because I feel they've already peaked and the only way is down for them. Bit like Moyes mk2. Pearson and Phillips is my number one choice.
Fair play. I'm just concerned about SKP coming into the club with the way it is now. I'd rather he came when we were stable and had a fair crack at it. I'd hate to see his reputation and status with us ruined.
You're mistaken fella he was abroad for a bit, then he was coaching at bolton and is currently coaching at wigan. He's in the game alright.
Who should I put on it? Put names forward, realistic if possible of course and i'll put a poll up tomorrow unless somebody beats me to it which they're more than welcome to.
Karanka - Cook - Hurst - Reid+1 - Pearson - Heckingbottom - O'Shea - Foreign manager - P Neville - McCoist - O'Neill - Any other
Done, ran out of selections so McCoist and O'Neil will have to be filed in to other, if they don't like it they can **** off
I think as long as you put the head choice in number one and the heart choice in number two you're alright.
Fair enough, i'd missed that bit, I just remember the turmoil he got into at Plymouth, although reading again between the lines, it wasn't his fault. Still have an uneasy feeling about him being back at the club........then again he has the heart and the passion to motivate the players so any involvement might be of benefit........fek I just want stability and some wins.
https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...acant-sunderland-job-resigns-his-current-post Paolo Montero just resigned straight after his team lost the cup semi final. Could it be?
Was a great player but he’s got no history as a manager and doesn’t speak English. Seems a random link to say the least.
I would admit if he doesn't speak the language it would be a total non starter. I don't know if he does or not. He's got more managerial experience than Phil Neville and Kevin Phillip. Also Roy Keane before he arrived with no games under his belt. Montero with a young English coach as number 2 just intriges me. Would raise eyebrows and interest. He was a world class defender and notorious hard nut. Better pedigree than Di Canio but some of his better principles perhaps along with better tactical nous
