No, I don't accept that. We cannot continue being a sell-to-buy club. That is not good business and if it was Rupert Low doing it you'd all be up in arms. We are bringing in huge sums of money now, and we need to show we can do more than break even. If not, other clubs simply recognise we buy to sell and keep raiding us every summer. I am sorry but this summer is now a pattern and it will not lead to top half security.

Amen

The law of averages would also suggest that Pellegrini is due to carry out a **** job somewhere, if you want to get into law of averages.

Law of averages don't really count for as much as some people would like to think.
I just think we needed a bigger name in English football. This bloke's a risk too far IMO and I think he will struggle. Just my opinion and if he proves me wrong I will happily eat humble pie.

What do you mean by "we need to show we can do more than break even."??? Genuinely unsure what you're saying. Can you explain please?

I think you do know what I mean since I also used the phrase "buy-to-sell". We can be profitable as a club without being a break even selling team.

Fair enough Tom, nothing you've said there that isn't opinion.

I don't think it's all about 'the name' but I have some reservations despite him having an interesting CV and appealing to the club.

Too early to judge until the window is concluded surely?
The training ground investment and some big screw ups in the transfer market put our finances on the back foot

There's no denying that Puel is by far my least favoured option, but i'm basing my opinion on stats alone. I have no idea about his football philosophy and coaching ability. Les Reed knows far more about these things than me and the black box must've been tracking Puel for a while now.
I'm slightly disappointed right now, but the club is in safe hands and I did vote for "Anybody that Uncle Les Picks" in the poll.

No, that's why I asked.

If I'd realised why's you were getting at I wouldn't have asked. FFS! Just read hundreds of posts, glanced at yours and it made me ask the question.

There are some seriously touchy people about tonight.

Not touchy, just thought it was very very clear what I meant. Obviously my mistake.

Already did. Just supports my feeling. I know we Saints fans are pessimists but I think the honeymoon is over.
A lot of people said the same thing last season... and the season before that... Why worry or get annoyed over what you can't control? Just support the team and enjoy it. Long as we are top ten I haven't a problem.

If we end up **** and near relegation then moan when it happens.

Seriously, if people worked off stats alone and didn't add context, this is how they'd look at Mauricio.

33% win rate with Espanyol, got sacked with them bottom of the league.

38% win rate with Saints.

Nothing exceptional about those stats. The difference is, we have the context to say there was considerable improvement.

But we aren't selling to make money are we? We are selling because players either won't sign new deals or teams come in with stupid offers and the player kicks up a fuss etc.

Why do you think I am annoyed? I am watching the referendum results and idly commenting on here while I await a result that actually matters. However, I feel like this manager search is more like Supermarket Sweep than a black box special.
