Blimey, even the potentially new manager is good looking now. And French. The guy had better sign or Itchen Bridge is going to take some new casualties. ;)
Looks was of course one of the criteria they feed into the black box....that's where they went wrong with Koeman. Just had it pointed out to me that Rudi sold us Dani Osvaldo....the man is a genius.

Garcia said to be looking for an ambitious project and has a record of hanging around. Managed three or more season with four of his clubs.

Time spent at clubs and reason for leaving...

l'ASCE:
1994-1998 - (left to become a physio, then scout, then assistant coach at Saint-Etienne)

Saint-Etienne: 2001-2002 - (sacked as joint-manager alongside Jean-Guy Wallemme after they failed to save the club from relegation)

Dijon: 2002-2007 - (left to move up to Ligue 1 with Le Mans)

Le Mans: 2007-2008 - (left to take over Lille)

Lille: 2008-2013 - (left to take over at Roma)

Roma: 2013-2016 - (sacked after one win in seven in Serie A)
So fits in with the statement last week (or was it 24 hours ago?) about wanting someone who'd carried his philosophy through a number of clubs. Sounds promising :)

I love the fact that that fan doesn't rate Garcia having followed Roma for 12 years and describes it as "the worst football I've seen in that time".

Garcia's record in 95 League games for Roma: 54 wins, 27 draws, 14 losses - average 38 game season = 75.6pts and +32GD.

Now if we check the other 9 seasons this fan would have seen prior to Garcia he'd have only seen two seasons with a better points total (07/08 & 09/10), and two seasons with a better GD (06/07 & 07/08).

Roma's average across all 12 seasons is 69.2pts (6.4pts worse), & +23.3GD (8.7gd worse).

Methinks the fan has some delusions based on Garcia's good early start (he won their first 10 games with 24 goals for, and 1 against), and the fact their new manager has also had a good start at the tail end of '15/16. There's certainly nothing to say that Garcia is a bad manager at that level, and let's be honest, that's a higher level than we have previously maintained at any point in our last 30 years.

Get him signed Les!!

Apparently it is a life of extreme emotions as a Roma supporter. Was even mentioned in a drama series once. In the 2nd episode of the 2010 detective series Zen, two Italian undercover cops are on stakeout with one moaning on and on, about Roma only managing to get 2nd place every season, while the other cop fell asleep. :)

Leslie Reed went abroad
In a red Ferrari
Looking for a manager
Brought back Rudi Garci(a)

It's the best I've got at the moment.

Let's see what I can do along the same lines...

TSS sped off to Italy on his VFR
With despatches from Uncle Les
To bring back that Gar-Cee-Arr
...

There was more but it's even worse, so I deleted it. ;)

Apparently it is a life of extreme emotions as a Roma supporter.

When inquiring about Osvaldo's proclivity for insanity when a deal seemed imminent, the reply I got from a Roma-supporting friend was that he wasn't entirely sure if Osvaldo was to blame, simply because most of the team seemed to be crazy.

When your team is nuts enough that Osvaldo doesn't really stand out, it's not just the supporters prone to extremes of emotions.

This time yesterday morning FdB was 2/1 favourite and Garcia's name was nowhere in sight, now de Boer is 10/1 and Rudi Garcia is 10/11 (SkyBet). Feel good about this! The further Moyes slips from favouritism the better, and I don't want us to uproot Howe from Bournemouth. This has all the makings of another bit of left field brilliance from Les.
