My pleasureIt did mate, thanks
What did he say that made you think that?Just back from the talk in, we have a good one in RLB, clearly a deep thinking coach.
Speakman is marmite imo, he spoke well at times but also bothered me and the group I was with with how involved he appears to be / wants to be in the day to day coaching.
Just the general conversation about the squad, fitness, the comments about leadbitter. What did he say that made you think that?
I know mate, I was there. Been to a couple with Speakman, and generally come across well in these situations. Thought Frankie did a great job. Le Bris looked a bit uncomfortable but it’s all probably new to him, not least the language and dialect.Ha ha! When I asked the question he said if anyone says the word model again they had to be escorted from the stadium!!!! Frankie was comparing and going around with the microphone and he said that he had started it!! Thought Speakman came across well

Exactly mate.Any of us in a new job would be a bit uncomfortable, in a new job under such intense scrutiny would be tough.
As you say, the new language and strong accent would make it a bit of an ordeal.
It's no surprise Speakman was having his back and covering difficult questions, especially things RLB would have no idea about like the Spanish trip, Leadbitter and what FTM stands for. These things are what you want them to be to an extent.
Some on social media are calling out people, like yourself, for not asking the right questions and we all know what they are ...
... they seem to think it's another Post Office Inquiry where people can be grilled and forced to answer any question.
My feelings exactly, there’s 17 pages on the talk in over the road mind and I’m sure it’s all positive and forward looking as well…Exactly mate.
It felt a welcoming atmosphere for the new manager tonight. For me, last season is done, Speakman has held his hands up and said things need to be better and he made mistakes. I just enjoyed tonight for what it was. Met up with a few folk I generally don’t see during the off season too.
The best way to keep the dialogue going is to be respectful. Some clubs don’t do this sort of thing. Everyone knows the expectations of the fan base, Speakman acknowledged that too. Those in the hot seats need to deliver. If they don’t deliver, they will be moved on and we will still be here. They are lucky to be at such a massive club with a great fan base and I think they do know that.
If in a few months time, things have turned to ****, everyone will make Speakman acutely aware of that. For now, I’m happy to enjoy my optimism for the new season.

Thanks for taking the time to report back, much appreciatedNot quite Smug but hopefully my summary gave an accurate picture of the event

I thought he looked comfortable except with Speakman's poor joke that it was him who cancelled the Benidorm coaches!I know mate, I was there. Just had a look and, surprise surprise, people who didn't like Speakman beforehand don't like him now.
Apparently there's something sinister about our Sporting Director knowing about players fitness, etc.
This was an evening with Speakman and the new manager, not an evening with the new manager ...
... how these comments mean Speakman is directly involved with training, every day, is beyond me tbh.
Of course he'll have an involvement, that's his job, the clue is in his title.
That’s not confined to over there mind. The lad saying it has been posting on this thread.Just had a look and, surprise surprise, people who didn't like Speakman beforehand don't like him now.

We all know you don't like him, I'm surprised you didn't start that strange word you used with an 'N' (only joking, really)He just come across as obnipotent and the performance thus far is anything but.
