Speakman has attracted a great Championship player in Browne, signed Rigg to a pro-deal and brought in a coach that Nice wanted ... ... and the transfer window is still wide open. I'm 100% behind him at the moment despite his lapses in the last two windows. Since he arrived the value of the squad has advanced out of all reasonable expectations ... ... what a difference from when Donald and Methven were destroying the club.
I’ve said throughout and still think it. Keep him for the good he does but add some first team level nouse to add balance.
It's absolutely f*cked up, in my opinion. that people dismiss the value of our squad by saying 'profit doesn't win you games'. Of course not but valuable players are more likely to be valuable on the pitch ... ... and the opposite of 'sustainable' is unsustainable. Do people really want millions thrown at another Will Grigg
Sustainable = growth which is the opposite of regression. With the financial rules there is no other way. We’ve the right model with 2 or 3 windows of too much risk taking. A counter balanced version of the same approach is what we need.
I personally do not think the last few windows have been as poor as everybody suggests. We have built up solid foundations with youth recruitment and the club is looking stronger for it. The first team has suffered and that is apparent, but all our fans asked for was a plan and to build a strong structure. Which IMO we are doing. It looks like we have enough depth now so is time to start adding some strength, which may well bear fruit in the coming months.
They just haven't managed to balance long term needs with those of the short term. And Sunderland fans are pretty impatient. We've been left short by injuries and the lack of a focal point in our attack has been glaring. Could still prove a success if the likes of Pembele and Mundle come good eventually.
Bob has nowt but good things to say about him though. As everyone keeps saying who would hire someone to work under them who is going to disagree and go against them and everything they and the company stand for? KS clearly has a brief about how KLD wants things done and how SAFC should be doing things. Cause if he was going off reservation with it he would have gone by now!
yet some dont see it this way they say KLD/KS being penny pinchers and running the club into the ground what was whine men sayers?
Oh, I thought Bob was being ironic or taking the piss out of himself. Too ridiculous a comment to be otherwise?
Only people actually at the club and involved in the transfer deals will know if he is penny pinching, and if so whether there is a valid reason for that. I'm of the opinion mistakes were made last season, we obviously needed more experience to help the young lads and are missing a couple of players in vital positions. Hopefully both KS and KLD have learned from this and we will know by the start of the season I guess.
some feel becuase of the KLD has billions he should spend said billions on the club and dont understand that owner wealth and club wealth are too seperate things, they dont like that we're not spending millions per window, forgetting that for a few seasons we didnt have any players worth any sell on value and had to either pay off or wait for their contract to end for them to leave
The thing is we are spending millions just not big money on one player. Rather do it this way, than risk the long term future of the club like we almost did under Short
the fact the short didn't think that finishing bottom meant relegation said a lot he got rid of the all of the footballing men around him, his interference was why Keane left.
KLD could easily recoup the money he paid for the club and pass it on to someone who'll inherit a fully functioning club, good academy & stadium, valuable squad and a place in the Championship ... ... a far cry from the embarrassing state we were in when he arrived. Step by step everything's improving which must make the 'KLD Out Brigade' cringe. If Le Bris doesn't succeed he'll go the same way as Mowbray and Beale and so on and so on until they get us into the top half of the PL. In my opinion.
interview he did shortly after or a statement he put out after the relegation said he was angry too and went for walks to destress didnt think clubs got relegated despite 3 new teams came into the league if it wasnt for short RK would have stayed a lot longer
