How on earth would Carlton Palmer knowThis is from otr and what Carlton Palmer has allegedly said (no idea where, is he on Talksport?).
Strong words from Carlton Palmer
“From what is coming out of the football club, is that you’re not allowed to bring into your coaching staff, you’re allowed to bring in one person and then you’ve got to work within the realms of how they want to run the football club.
“This is their choice, their policy, of bringing in young players in, not really signing senior players and the control that’s taken away from the manager.
“As I’ve said, it’s going to be a very, very difficult appointment because any manager that is worth his salt, unless you’re really desperate to get back into work, you’re only set up to fail under the regime that Sunderland have set up.
“This is disappointing for the supporters, disappointing so close to the season. You’d obviously want to have a manager in place to start getting to work in the transfer market for the upcoming season.
We were Roy Keane's Sunderland when he took over, and he didn't do too badOne of my main reservations with Lampard is that we would stop being "Sunderland" and start being "Frank Lampard's Sunderland"
He had some quality loans at Derby too. Mason Mount and Harry Wilson I think?Lampard’s managerial record…

The way I would see it is, he's good with young players, would have good connections for loans, most of our players will love him as they'll have watched him growing up so he would get respect. He would be hungry to do well tooHe had some quality loans at Derby too. Mason Mount and Harry Wilson I think?
Tomori too. The squad was a great mix of experience and youth. Should’ve been promoted imo.He had some quality loans at Derby too. Mason Mount and Harry Wilson I think?
If people think Rosenior failed in the championship then look at the squad Lampard had. 6th was a poor return imo and he completely blew the play off final with his tactics, in my opinion.Lampard is would be less inspiring for me than a Challinor for example. Just don't think he's very good at all.
That’s one way to look at it. The other is that he should have done better with that squad he had at Derby. Strong team at the time. The way I would see it is, he's good with young players, would have good connections for loans, most of our players will love him as they'll have watched him growing up so he would get respect. He would be hungry to do well too
…as would any coach coming in. I know you’re trying to look for the positives (as you have with every bloke linked) but I just don’t see it with Lampard. The way I would see it is, he's good with young players, would have good connections for loans, most of our players will love him as they'll have watched him growing up so he would get respect. Lampard's connection with Chelsea might mean we can secure Mason Burstow for another year as well.
I remember being in disbelief that Jack Marriott didn't start that final after his semi final 2nd leg performance. If people think Rosenior failed in the championship then look at the squad Lampard had. 6th was a poor return imo and he completely blew the play off final with his tactics, in my opinion.
They had a squad that included Tomori, Lawrence, Mount, Wilson, Knight. Then some great experience in Huddlestone, Martin, Davies, Johnson. For me he was given the squad for top 2 but never got them into an effective group for any run of form. Arguably as well Jody Morris was important on the training pitch.
Good point.Lampard's connection with Chelsea might mean we can secure Mason Burstow for another year as well.
Glad I wasn't drinking coffee when reading that! Would have gone all over.Lampard's connection with Chelsea might mean we can secure Mason Burstow for another year as well.
Apparently so.Isn't Lampard in the running for the Burnley job?
Despite his record elsewhere, I think the reaction to Challinor would be really bad. He’d be right up against it…
