I like the bloke and admire what he's done ...

... but I thought he froze at Chelsea.

I know that's not a popular view, because people hate Chelsea as I do, but it was too big for him imo.

Big mistake for him, other than financially of course.
I agree to a point but the fact that they went through an embargo and forced sale due to the war. It was pretty much unprecedented times so I factored that int my reasoning for his failures, then a scattergun approach by new and inexperienced owners really did not help.

Rosenior but I don't think lampard would be as bad as some think

Meant to be great with young players and he will be used to the pressure of high profile jobs

in all seriousness Lampard also has that level of confidence that I think a Sunderland manager needs.

Not that I want lampard. But I do agree with you he wouldn’t be as bad as many say.

Was hesitant to post this following the replies to the question haha but felt like he did good work at Derby, had a really good season with Chelsea when they had that embargo, and then kept Everton up when they were in a mess. Has a bit of an unfair rep imo (wouldnt be my pick for head coach btw)

Lampard wouldn’t be too bad would he. Did decent with derby, 4th with Chelsea when they had financial restrictions

Yeah he isnt my 1st choice but managing us is different to managing most teams in the league. He is used to that pressure as a player and as a manager.

He was an unbelievable pro and is someone our young players would learn so much from about dealing with the pressures but also how to be a pro

If he brought jody morris and joe Edwards (big fan of him as a coach- did crap at millwall but the fit for him there was dreadful) then id be pretty happy

I'm sure he has the knowledge and aptitude to be a good manager/head coach. My problem with him, and this is purely gut feeling, is that he isn't hungry enough for it. Something about him makes me think he went into management because he had to do something, anything, with his time.
